About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Integrative Therapist. I am also a registered member of the BACP and I ensure that I am updating my working practice and skills with CPD and further training, as I believe we are all works in progress.

In my practice I am grounded, authentic, calm and down to earth. I have significant experience of working with drug, gambling and alcohol dependency issues as well as grief, anxiety, depression, life stages and self-esteem. Also trauma-related childhood issues.

The first step is to admit something in your life isn’t as you would like it to be, and the second is the desire to do something about it. There is no right or wrong reason to come to therapy. Being human is complicated.

It can take a lot of courage to come to therapy, and for some, to continue to do so when exploring difficult subjects.

It is my belief that you are the expert on you. Therefore it is for us to explore together what is is that brings you to counselling and what you hope to achieve.

Practice description

I provide a non-judgemental counselling and therapeutic service based in comfortable, calm and safe practice rooms in Bristol City where you will always be warmly welcomed and safely held.

As an Integrative Counsellor I will tailor my techniques to what is most appropriate to you, with your permission. I will do my best to meet you where you are, and not just from one theory, and you’re always welcome to enquire about my practice. Mostly I use my counselling knowledge, life experience and skills to help us explore the world as you see it.

My intention is to share knowledge and empower you to find the tools to be able to look after, and regulate yourself.

To me, the quality of our working relationship is of primary importance. I believe that it’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship that does the healing. Indeed, it’s been argued that this is almost as important as the modality of the therapist.

Therefore I think it’s important for me to be the right “fit” for you, and you for me.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to decide if booking a first session is suitable.

Our first session will be slightly different from our usual sessions, in that I will complete an assessment to ensure I can meet your therapeutic needs.

This will be an opportunity for us to decide that we are the right fit for one another. After this there will be regular and ongoing reviews of our work together.
