About me and my therapy practice
I know that even the most painful of traumas can be worked through with compassion, curiosity and playfulness. I can support you to reshape your life through exploration and experiment. I can help you to find your resilience and strength, to heal your grief, and to choose your future.
Areas I specialise in include:
* Therapy for freelancers and creatives (writers, singers, actors, directors…)
* Pre trial therapy and post trial therapy for survivors of assault or abuse
* Bereavement, grief, loss, and end-of-life therapy
* Therapy for climate anxiety and activist burnout
* Therapy after trauma and abuse
I received my PhD from UCL in 2004 in artificial intelligence and spent the next fifteen years working at the intersection of neuroscience and AI. I also wrote the popular neuroscience books, Swearing is Good for You and How to Build a Human.
I offer a free 15 minute online consultation we can determine if I meet your needs.
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
Practice description
I am a person-centred therapist based who sees clients for face-to-face counselling in Hammersmith, West London. I also offer online therapy and therapy by phone where appropriate.
I work with clients for both short-term and long-term therapy. I bring a mix of approaches to my work, and I pride myself on my ability to respond to each individual client’s needs.
I trained to be a therapist at The Gestalt Centre in London, drawn by the mix of creativity and experimentation, and the focus on growth. As a practitioner my background in writing and the performing arts meets my training in science and research, all driven by curiosity and compassion.
My first session
We can begin with a free, no-obligation, 15 minute online session, where you'll get to ask me any question you may have, and we can explore whether I offer the kind of support we need.
After that we will meet for 50 minute sessions, either online or face to face in comfortable, dedicated counselling rooms.
Many clients see me weekly, but I'm also happy to offer more flexible packages.
