Availability
I have some availability at the moment for daytime and evening clients online. With notice I can also offer face - to- face sessions but the price point does increase to £80. I am available in Bath for F2F and anywhere else online.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP - registered Integrative Counsellor, Eating Disorders Practitioner, CBT-E therapist, Coach and Registered Nurse (mental health and general, NMC- registered. I am also a qualified hypnotherapist using the Solutions- Focused approach.
I am also an Executive Coach, trained at Henley Business College, and will work with people who have any kind of work- related issues.
Although I will see clients for any reason, my main area of interest and specialism is in disordered eating and associated behaviours, and body- image related issues. I use the term "disordered eating" rather than "eating disorders" as I believe that the spectrum of experience related to eating, weight, shape and size goes beyond a label and there are many who are really struggling who do not have a specific ED diagnosis. I work with those who are troubled by binge eating, binge eating disorder, Bulimia or any form of compensatory mechanism (including overexercising and restriction) but please note that I do not personally work with individuals who are severely underweight / Anorexia as I believe that is managed more effectively in the care of a team.
Practice description
RecoveryWorks provides a safe and confidential space, without fear, judgement or shame, to help you find a way out of the destructive cycle of binge eating, bulimia, or any form of disordered eating- related issues you wish to resolve. This includes working to support a more positive body image. I can use a variety of approaches depending on your needs but ultimately I work with YOU in a very person- centred way. I work mainly online and never start before we have had a free confidential discussion, so you can get a feel for how I work and do what I refer to as a "chemistry check". It's important that you feel comfortable and we both feel that we could work together. Generally I work in "blocks" of sessions so that we can regularly review but I also offer open ended counselling. From time to time, I also offer group coaching, sometimes as a "one- off" to discuss a particular issue, and sometimes as a programme of between 6-8 sessions, which some people find a source of additional support, again in a confidential, safe space where we can be open and talk without fear of judgement.
My first session
I offer an initial free 15-30 minute call but once we get under way, I generally prefer to have a longer initial session of 90 minutes (or 120 minutes with CBT-E). I will walk you through how we will work together, and what you might expect, but the main part of the first session is about you and what has brought you to me. I do use questionnaires and there is structure to this first session so it can help me develop a sense of what is most important to you. That may well change over time but that's fine- it's a starting point.
Rates are pro- rata so for example, a 90- minute session will be 1 and 1/2 the standard rate.
Subsequent sessions are 55 minutes.
