About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Alex.
I understand that finding the right therapist can be confusing and overwhelming so here is little bit about me and how I practice to help you find out if I might be right for you.
I’m here to offer you a warm, welcoming space so you can share what’s on your mind. I will listen to your experiences and find out what’s going on for you or what might have happened to you and how you are feeling about it. I am empathic, caring and interested to find out about your experiences, your perspectives and want to understand and validate how you’re feeling whilst helping you navigate the challenges you’re facing.
Maybe there’s something you’ve never spoken about, or are scared to discuss with your loved ones? Perhaps you don’t want to burden others in your life by talking about what’s going on for you? Maybe you’re feeling sad and want to work out why you are feeling this way? Or maybe you have achieved your goals and thriving in life, but still find yourself struggling with anxiety or stress?
There are countless reasons why you might be seeking support and I’m here to discover what is going on for you and support you on your healing journey.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, stress, grief, bereavement and pet bereavement, trauma and other life events such as new mothers navigating the transition into motherhood.
Practice description
I am a BACP registered integrative psychotherapist/counsellor. Person centred theory forms the foundation of my practice, and I can also incorporate a variety of theories and interventions if I feel they might be beneficial for you, such as attachment theory and the psychodynamic approach. This means we can work together on things that happened in your past that you feel are still impacting you now in your present and together find ways to help you live a more peaceful life so that you can achieve your goals.
I have a background of working in mental health services and will offer you a non-judgemental, safe and nurturing space to facilitate your growth and healing. I am a relational therapist and recognise the importance of relationships and the effect they can have on our mental health. Whilst working together we will create a therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and respect and this will support you in feeling safe to talk deeply about yourself and how you experience the world. I will encourage you to reflect on your relationships and interactions with others, past or present, enabling you to process your thoughts and feelings, identify attachment patterns and find meaning in your experiences, leading to personal growth, acceptance and resilience.
In our busy and stressful world, having time to really focus on you and put yourself first can be extremely beneficial. I would feel honoured to hear your story and work with you.
My first session
I offer a complimentary 10-minute phone call if you want to talk through how therapy may benefit you or if you have any questions.
If we decide to work together, I offer 50-minute sessions by Zoom video call or telephone. The first session includes discussing you and your situation, and how we could work together.
Please get in touch by the contact form on this page, or by phone or text, to check my availability, arrange a call, or to book our first session.
