About me and my therapy practice

Have you reached a point where you realise things haven’t been right for a while? Do you feel stuck and you can’t see why? Perhaps your emotions feel in control of you and it feels scary. It can feel hard to reach out for help, but talking about this with someone removed from the situation can help you to gain a new perspective and more clarity.

The kinds of issues I work with

I’m a Glasgow based counsellor and can provide support for issues like anxiety and stress, depression, low mood, loss and bereavement.

What is my approach to counselling?

I am trained in Humanistic Counselling, a method that focuses on seeing you as a whole and unique person.

Humanistic Counselling encourages people to think about their feelings, and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving your highest potential, rather than on “problem” behaviour (to find out more about the Humanistic approach, please visit BACP.).

I work in a person-centred way and treat everyone as an individual. On a therapy journey with me, I’ll draw upon my knowledge of other Humanistic therapies to find the right approach. I believe in tailoring therapy to your needs and having an open, ongoing conversation about what works best for you.

Practice description

What you can expect from sessions with me:

I have a trauma-informed practice, providing you with a neutral, confidential space to talk about whatever it is that is troubling you. I listen carefully and look at things from your perspective, without judging you. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and that you have an innate ability to grow and thrive. My role is to be alongside you, supporting you in finding the best path forward.

My experience:

I have been working in the mental health field in and around Glasgow since 2021. This includes, most recently, working as a counsellor with two established counselling organisations: Crisis Counselling and The Wynd Centre. Prior to this, starting in 2021, I worked as a distress response worker for a service that supports people in crisis.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working in education with young people with additional support needs, including young people who had been through difficult childhood experiences.

I bring this diverse experience into my counselling practice and am continuously developing my skills. The learning never stops — nor would I want it to!

My first session

To find out more about how I work, you can book a free introductory call with me. This way, we can find out how well we’d work together. The call lasts up to 30 minutes and gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the way I work, giving us a chance to ease into the counselling process gently and with no obligations on you.

ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Neurodiversity, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Vegan allied, Women's issues, Work related issues
