About me and my therapy practice
Hello.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Choosing a counsellor can feel overwhelming and the thought of making the wrong choice paralysing. I offer a free no-obligation 30-minute telephone or Zoom call to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you and to ease any worries you may have about making your choice and the counselling process itself.
I am an Integrative psychotherapist which means I work with you as my sole focus. I am able to use a number of different methods to help you explore and process your experiences. At the centre of how I work is the belief that you are the expert in your situation and life. My job isn't to fix you but to listen to you very carefully so I can help you work out what you want to change and what you don't.
Whatever your age, gender, sexuality, or neurodiversity I offer a warm, welcoming space for you to process things at your own pace, in a confidential, non-judgemental, and respectful environment. I hope that through our relationship and work together you will feel able to explore areas that may feel difficult. Enabling you to come to a better understanding of yourself, your world and make peace with your place within it, or facilitate you to make positive intentional changes.
I believe each client is an individual and I am not tied to one specific therapy. I work collaboratively and I am able to draw on a number of counselling approaches such as person-centred, existential, and psychodynamic therapy to create a bespoke approach that meets your needs.
Following your lead we can explore with curiosity what has brought you to counselling. We can look at what is happening here and now but also take into account past experiences that are continuing to impact you in the present. We can also consider how communication with people in your life affects you. The more you learn about yourself, who you are and what you want, the more you can understand what you need to be able to live the way you choose.
Practice description
My background is in mental health nursing and I have also been a volunteer for the Citizens Advice Bureau. I have always enjoyed the talking and supportive sides of my roles and following this I chose to change direction and completed my post-graduate diploma to become an Integrative Psychotherapist.
I am currently a volunteer counsellor at a women’s centre and a local charity where I support individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss and/or have had negative experiences in relationships.
