About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I’m Laura, a fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist registered with the BPC, BACP and UKCP.
Psychodynamic therapy effectively addresses issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress.
Whether you have experienced a recent life stressor, such as a significant loss, relationship-breakdown, or you are navigating a particularly difficult period of transition, or perhaps you are feeling trapped or weighed down by a general sense of dissatisfaction, loneliness, or unease, whatever it is, psychodynamic therapy can act as a catalyst for lasting and meaningful change and repair.
Psychodynamic therapy asks us to look inward and to our past. Our early experiences can have a subtle but powerful influence on the lives we live as adults, impacting our self-esteem and our sense of well-being. Looking back can help you better understand the nature of your difficulties and the origins of certain self-limiting or destructive thoughts and behaviours, enabling you to cultivate self-awareness, reconnect with your inner resources and break free from unhelpful patterns.
I have worked with clients of a variety of ages and from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures. I am committed to working with curiosity and care, in confidence and without judgement. If you are interested in the possibility of working together, please get in touch via email and we can set up a short, obligation-free telephone call.
Practice description
I work from Hackney in east London, an easy walking distance from Haggerston and Dalston overground stations.
My consulting room is located in Fitzrovia, central London and is in easy walking distance from several major tube stations including Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Great Portland Street.
I offer sessions in-person, online and over the telephone.
I work primarily in an open-ended way, which allows for deeper exploration but I also offer time-limited therapy which is more structured and problem-focussed.
I can help with:
- ADHD
- Anxiety
- Depression and low-mood
- Family
- Gender and sexuality
- Grief and loss
- Issues with identity
- Personality disorders
- Neurodiversity
- Relationship and attachment issues
- Stress
- Self harm and suicidal ideation
- Trauma and abuse
My first session
Choosing the right therapist is important and reaching out can feel daunting. I offer an introductory, obligation-free telephone call to see how I might be of help to you.
The next step is to arrange a 90-minute initial consultation. This is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to ask any questions you may have. It will also give me the chance to hear more about you, your history and what has been troubling you.
We will then come to a decision, based on your individual needs and circumstances, whether we think we would work well together and if open-ended or time-limited therapy would be best suited to you. At this point, we will also agree to a regular session time.
