Availability
Hello and welcome.
If you are reading this then you may be about to take a step to reach for support with something you are struggling with or wanting to understand better.
I have some availability for in person sessions, in Harpenden on a Friday afternoon and in St Albans on a Tuesday morning and afternoon. I also have some availability online on Thursdays.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative counsellor. I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre, one of the UK’s leading training institutions for counsellors and psychotherapists. I am currently working towards an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I have trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches that I can adapt to meet your specific, individual needs.
My practice is influenced by attachment theory, psychodynamic theory and body psychotherapy. This means my approach draws on childhood, inter-generational and wider cultural experiences to make sense of thoughts, feelings and sensations in the present. I believe that paying attention to our bodily sensations can enhance our understanding of ourselves.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and I have specific expertise working with clients, living with chronic and/or terminal illness, or caring for someone with chronic illness and bereaved clients. Alongside my private practice, I also see clients at Mind in Mid Herts.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked as a chartered accountant for 15 years in Banking and Professional Service firms. As a result of this experience, I have a direct understanding of the culture of ‘the City’ and similarly highly pressurised working environments.
I am also a mother and I understand the full range of experience this brings from sheer joy and wonder, to stress, challenge and sometimes heartbreak. This understanding is brought into my practice when working with themes such as miscarriage, infertility, transitioning to parenthood, changes in identity, pre and post-natal depression and returning to work after having children.
If I sound like I may be a good fit for you, get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
Practice description
I meet with clients on a weekly basis and offer both short-term (6-12 weeks) and long-term therapy.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and my work is governed by their ethical framework. I attend regular supervision.
If you would like to work together, then please get in touch. We can arrange an initial (free) 20 minute meeting which will give you the opportunity to see if we are the right fit and you feel ready to work together.
My practice is based in Southdown in Harpenden. I also offer online therapy.
My first session
Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step and it can be transformational. Finding the right therapist is crucial as I believe the relationship that we build together is often the key to therapeutic change and healing.
I offer a free 20 minute phone or zoom call so that you and I can get to know each other and explore whether working together feels right for you.
If you would like to proceed, we will agree a day and time to meet on a weekly basis.
In the first session, we will complete as assessment where we will explore more fully what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to get out of therapy.
