About me and my therapy practice
Hello. My name is Suzanne.
I am trained and experienced in providing therapeutic, emotional and relational support.
I offer a caring, non-judgmental, confidential relationship, in which you can share the issues, challenges and burdens you are experiencing. I provide individualised, short, or long-term counselling to adults over 16. I work face-to-face, via Zoom video link, or telephone. I welcome all ages and celebrate our human differences and diversity.
My practice is based in the beautiful Suffolk countryside with access to comfortable counselling rooms, rural walks and peaceful gardens. I provide a calm, warm, safe and welcoming space for you to become at ease with yourself and find healing through, self-understanding and acceptance. I believe we all instinctively know our own healing path which activates in a nurturing space, connecting us to our own personal truth, confidence and wisdom.
The language of self-expression comes in many forms. Words, art, music, walking, and contact with nature are all available to you. These mediums allow you to express yourself from all the layers of your experience, enabling you to deeply release and connect with yourself in a manageable way.
At the heart of my approach is an ethic of genuine care for you and your world. I am committed to maintaining a positive, cooperative, and collaborative relationship with you which is both flexible and secure. I am a counsellor who works with compassion, kindness and a strong will to understand your experience. With this understanding, I draw on therapeutic approaches and life knowledge which fit to your needs and way of being.
Practice description
I follow a Pluralist framework which acknowledges different people are helped by different methods at different times. Research shows the most useful therapy is one that fits you. This approach utilises concepts, strategies and inventions from a range of therapeutic perspectives to best suit an individual at that moment. As the client, you are able to guide and collaborate in your own therapy, recognising what is effective by communicating what is helpful, supportive and meaningful to you. This approach develops self-awareness, self-confidence and understanding of personal needs, as well as a therapeutic relationship which can safely and gently process both adult and childhood trauma.
My first session
After your initial contact with me via email, we can arrange a telephone conversation if requested to discuss your needs and find a suitable session time. Your first counselling session may flow for up to 90 minutes, giving you time to share your experience and challenges, as well as check out my presence and the counselling spaces. When looking for a counsellor it can be hard to know what kind of person and approach will be helpful, but your gut will let you know when you feel comfortable, and that’s a good place to start.
