About me and my therapy practice
Chapters Therapy, offers professional counselling and psychotherapy services to people in Hertford and the surrounding areas for face to face sessions and people nationwide for online sessions.
I work in a person centred way, meaning that I am non directive in my approach. Taking the time to listen and understand where you are now, and to work towards where you want to be.
I have worked predominantly with clients with a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) diagnosis helping them to identify where their behaviours and thought patterns developed and work on ways of coping with the overwhelming feelings that come hand in hand with the symptoms of BPD, and to get to a place that feels like they have regained control.
I have also worked extensively with people coming out of Domestic Abuse or prolonged exposure to a relationship with narcissistic & coercive people. We work together, in a non directive way, to identify patterns of behaviour and to develop new pathways to enable themselves to break free from people pleasing and to find their voice.
We will work together to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a confidential setting. I also work with those struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, sexual abuse & childhood trauma. We can work together, at your pace to help you navigate towards healing and growth.
Using therapeutic techniques, we can work together to help you to find the skills that will enable us to tackle the difficult and more painful areas that are difficult to address. Therapy isn't easy when we get to the root issues, however, with the right tools, we can go there safely in a way that's not too over-whelming and where it will be hard, when we work safely, that uncomfortable space, will become healing and growth.
If you are in need of professional support, Please get in touch for a free consultation to see if how I work, could be a fit for you.
Practice description
My practice is located in Hertford town centre with free parking nearby and is a two minute walk from Hertford East station. Sessions are for 1 hour either weekly or bi weekly, depending on what fits for you.
My online work is carried out using the Isos-connect system which is Allied Healthcare Professionals approved on a confidential platform where the data is triple encrypted and hosted on UK servers for GDPR compliance, ensuring your confidentiality at all times.
You can expect to work in a safe space at your own pace, I offer therapy, which at times can be difficult and I acknowledge that, but I will work with you to ensure that you have the tools to do this in a way that enables you to be able to face, explore, feel and acknowledge those feelings that you may have been consciously or unconsciously navigating around or away from for a long time and we can do this together, in safety to help you reach a place where you feel whole and true to yourself. My work aims to help you find your voice, develop healthy boundaries and a patience within yourself that enables you to speak kindly to yourself and be present enough to take the time to slow things down and give yourself the space you need to feel in control of your own life.
My first session
Initial consultations are free of charge. They usually last between 20 minutes and half an hour and tend to be online (but face to face is ok too) you can ask me anything about the process that you need to know and I encourage you to ask whatever questions you have, our relationship will be key to our work together so even if you think it might be a silly/weird/odd question, ask it.
I can find out a bit more about you and look at what your hopeful outcomes of the sessions might be and can give you an idea of what the process will look like. We can work out session frequency and create a contract for our work together, setting out what works for us.
