About me and my therapy practice

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

Sometimes life can be tricky, scary and overwhelming leaving you with a sense of being stuck. As your counsellor I would take great pride and be incredibly privileged to stand alongside you, as you embark on this journey of navigating the world and understanding the impact this has on your life.

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, with an integrative approach. My core approach is Person-Centred, which enables me to offer a non-judgemental, confidential, and safe environment to explore your agenda. Furthermore, I draw upon the Psychodynamic approach to help shed light on how past life experiences shape your way of being.

Practice description

There may be many reasons why you are seeking counselling, you may have become aware of patterns in your life that feel impossible to break, you are going through a difficult time which is impacting you from living life to the fullest, or you have a desire to check-in as part of your self-care routine.

Together, we can start to unpick and explore any feelings that arise in our sessions, shedding light on how you feel towards the world around you, beyond the counselling room. I won’t ask you lots of questions, or give you exercises to complete, but rather allow you the space to express whatever is on your mind.

The underpinning principles of the Person-Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst being fully integrated in the relationship allowing the client to lead and set the pace.

Psychodynamic theory suggests that current conscious issues may stem from past unconscious experiences, leading to repetitive patterns in behaviour; these unhelpful patterns can lead to distress. In our sessions we can begin to identify and explore these unconscious patterns of behaviour, to help enable change.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone session for us to discuss how I may be able to help, exploring your needs and if this approach will be right for you. You may not be certain on what is troubling you, but this is okay, we can work collaboratively to create a safe space for exploration.

If you decide you want us to begin counselling, we will make an agreement to meet for 50 minutes at a fixed time and day each week. Ongoing sessions will be weekly online. I offer short-term and open-ended long-term work, typically with a review every 6-8 weeks to ensure my focus is on your aims and is oriented to meeting your needs.
