About me and my therapy practice
Hello I'm Annie, I offer compassionate and down-to-earth counselling to adults and adolescents in several Sussex locations and online.
If you're here, and looking for a counsellor, you may well have experienced some upheaval or distress in your life. People seek counselling for many reasons - whatever it is that brings you, I'm happy you're here and I'd like to help if I can.
I have experience working with adults and adolescents across a broad range of issues including: bereavement, depression, neurodivergence, identity, menopause and more. I have detailed a little more about me and my experience below but if you'd like to find out a bit more about me and the type of counselling I offer, please feel free to get in touch and/or to visit my website.
About me:
I decided to retrain as a counsellor after experiencing an empowering and healing therapeutic relationship myself. I believe that with the right support, we can do more then just 'get through' challenging periods.
I can offer support as you build self-awareness, resilience and self-compassion - identifying and exploring what is troubling you, unhelpful self-beliefs, relationships, your identity and so much more.
I am warm and responsive and endeavour to work respectfully, inclusively and openly - my hope is that you will always know you are with a real human, who listens, cares and accepts you, just as you are.
I work in a calm and creative way - and by creative I mean to say I'm not rigid or formulaic, recognising everyone is different, with different needs:
- for some, sitting in a peaceful room will be the best place to explore their inner self
- for others, being outdoors and walking alongside their counsellor ('walk and talk') is a more suitable environment
- and others might find working creatively with art, dreams, a sand-tray, genograms or timelines to be therapeutically useful...
… we can be creative together in deciding what counselling means for you and what environment and approach suits you best.
