About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am qualified to work with Children, Adolescents, Adults as well as Couples and Families.

In our first session I think it would be nice for you to talk to me about what is going on for you and the goals you would like to set for your therapy.

My sessions are client led but I do work solution focused and adapt the counselling sessions to your needs and requirements.

I only have two goals with my clients:

1) is that I help you to come to a place of understanding and acceptance for what is going on for you; and

2) two help you to manage and cope with your emotions, behaviours and thoughts.

This is because the only thing we can control in life is our own emotions, behaviours and thoughts we cannot control what others think, say or do.

When we can accept ourselves we can accept others.

Practice description

Hello, I can help you to:

  • Control your negative thoughts & behaviours,
  • Manage your feelings,
  • Reduce your anxiety,
  • Focus your mind,
  • Set your Goals,

  • Assert your boundaries. and
  • Empower you to be you.

I use creative and solution focused techniques, where appropriate, to explore the issues you bring into the counselling room.

I have worked with a variety of clients from anxiety, bereavement, bullying,

emotional & relationship conflicts, life & work-related stress and more.

I offer you a non-judgemental, caring and safe space where we can work together on what is important to you.  My our purpose and passion is to support you in reaching emotional freedom from your past, present or future concerns.

I have helped couples and individuals both face to face and online. My work covers diverse backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations.

• My approach is non -judgement, friendly and professional. Hopefully, enabling free flowing, honest communication between us.

• I use a variety of tools and techniques to assist in helping you both to try and understand yourselves as well as each other. Thus, allowing you to see the situation through each other’s eyes.

• My counselling style is flexible and tailored to you and your unique situation.

• I will guide you and offer support but the choices you make are down to you

• I have wealth of knowledge and experience that enables me to understand your unique situation. Alongside the tools to help you to move forward with confidence.

Practice description

Do you feeling invisible and Isolated?

Despite all your efforts to be seen, heard and notice by the clothes your wear, contributing to conversations and actively taking part in social interactions. Yet family, friends and colleagues till cut off your off, talk over you or don’t notice. It leaves you feeling unheard, unnoticed or unseen in your private, profession and personal life.

The Pain of Invisibility

This pain can eat away at you, leaving invisible scars on your emotional and mental wellbeing making you feel lonely, insecure and uncomfortable in your own skin.

Comparison and Doubt

This can manifest itself in a cycle of cycle of comparison with others, doubting your own self-worth and abilities. Lacking in self-confidence to socialise because what is the point if no-one is going to take any notice of you.

Relationships

You find yourself withdrawing from relationships, activities, you learn to bury your emotions, you keep your thoughts to yourself and you start to catastrophise situations. In essence you stop trusting those around you.

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy can help you to understand and accept you. By challenging your thought processes and equip you with the tools to help you to manage your inner conflicts and yourself more effectively.

Therapy creates a safe, confidential space for you to learn, listen and understand what is going on for you. Along with helping you to explore any unhelpful patterns of behaviour and thought processes, that might have developed over time.

Together, we will work towards a better understanding what you need as an individual to enable you to move forward in whichever way you choose.

My first session

In our first session, there is some initial paperwork we will need to go through to ensure there is a clear understanding about the counselling sessions, confidentiality and terms & conditions.

I like to use the first session to grasp an understanding of what your goals are for the counselling, and therefore think it would  for you to talk to me about what is going on for you and what you would like to achieve.

My sessions are client led meaning they are not structured by me and I follow your lead as to what you would like to talk about and resolve.   I do work solution focused and adapt my counselling skills to your needs and requirements.

If you are happy to work with me then please call 01708 607 412 to send me an email at kate@purple-pyramid.co.uk.
