About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can be daunting! I am a kind and compassionate therapist and provide a space where you can feel safe and accepted and can speak freely, and reflect, without fear of judgement.
I have experience of providing counselling in the NHS and voluntary sector. I have supported people with relationship difficulties, overwhelm, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, low self confidence, self-criticism, shame and low mood. I have also provided counselling in an NHS pregnancy loss service and have experience of supporting women (and men) affected by pregnancy loss, recurrent miscarriage and fertility difficulties.
People seek therapy for a multitude of reasons, it could be due to a specific problem or life event. Or you may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. It may be that you are struggling in your relationships with others or are struggling to form relationships. You may lack confidence, be overly self-critical and never feel good enough. You could feel stuck and be aware that you are repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Or you may be feeling generally dissatisfied with life and wish to make sense of these feelings.
Practice description
I am a relational integrative therapist, which means I tailor my approach to each individual and will use different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs and wants. My focus is on supporting you through our therapeutic relationship, to enable you to deepen your understanding and acceptance of your self.I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and my training was trauma informed. I am also a qualified Social Worker and in that role, I have supported adults experiencing difficulties for over 20 years.
I am a passionate advocate of therapy’s potential to enable us to develop more compassionate ways of relating to ourselves and others, leading to a more emotionally fulfilled life.
My first session
I work from an established counselling practice in Chorlton and I offer a free 30 minute initial face to face consultation, to give us the opportunity to meet to see if I am the right therapist for you. I can answer any questions you might have and we can talk briefly about your reasons for seeking counselling. There is no pressure to commit to therapy in this initial consultation and I always insist that people take time after this initial consultation to reflect if I am the right therapist for them before booking a first paid session.
If you decide you would like to work with me, our first session would be to find out more about you and what you hope to achieve by attending therapy. Often clients will describe the main difficulties they wish to overcome or may identify goals they would like therapy to support them with.
I am a relational integrative therapist, which means I tailor my approach to each individual and will employ different models of therapy depending on your needs and wants.
