About me and my therapy practice
I know starting therapy can be daunting! I am a kind and compassionate therapist and provide a space where you can feel safe and accepted. You may be seeking therapy due to a specific problem or life event. You may be feeling anxious and overwhelmed. You may have low self esteem, be overly self-critical and never feel good enough.
You could feel stuck and be aware that you are repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Or you may be feeling generally dissatisfied with life and wish to make sense of these feelings.
I am a passionate advocate of therapy’s potential to enable us to make changes and to develop more compassionate ways of relating to ourselves, leading to a calmer and more emotionally fulfilled life.
People I have supported describe me as very approachable, validating, insightful, nurturing and kind.
Practice description
I have experience of providing counselling in the NHS and voluntary sector. I have supported people with relationship difficulties, overwhelm, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, low self confidence, self-criticism, shame and low mood.
I am a relational integrative therapist, which means I tailor my approach to each individual and will employ different models of therapy depending on your needs and wants.
My style is very collaborative and I work together with people to identify any blocks and barriers to change and then support them to overcome them.
I have also provided counselling in an NHS pregnancy loss service and have experience of supporting women (and men) affected by pregnancy loss, recurrent miscarriage, TMFR and fertility difficulties.
My first session
I work from an established counselling practice in Chorlton and I offer a free 30 minute, no obligation, initial face to face or remote consultation, to give us the opportunity to meet to see if I am the right therapist for you. I can tell you more about the way I work, I can answer any questions you might have and we can talk briefly about your reasons for seeking counselling.
If you decide you would like to work with me, our first session would be to find out more about you and what you hope to achieve by attending therapy. Often clients will describe the main difficulties they wish to overcome or may identify goals they would like therapy to support them with.
