About me and my therapy practice
** FREE INITIAL CONVERSATION **
Hello, how are you? ... How are you really?
Perhaps there are a million thoughts and feelings come bubbling to the surface as you ask yourself that question, or perhaps you feel a little lost in knowing where to begin when confronted with expressing yourself so honestly. Either way, depending on your hopes and needs, we can work together to explore your challenges and difficulties in a way which acknowledges your experiences and moves you from simply surviving towards fully living and thriving.
Hi, my name is Rosy. I am a creative Integrative Counsellor, trained in Person-Centred, CBT, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and creative approaches. If you are new to counselling then please don't let all the words put you off! Put simply, what this means for you is that I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to offer an integrative approach tailored to suit your needs depending upon what you are bringing to each session.
Whilst respecting your unique identity, your past experiences, present situation and future aspirations, I will endeavour to walk alongside you as you explore the difficulties you are experiencing and to support you in empowering yourself to find choice and experiment with change as we work to restore a sense of balance in to your life.
Ultimately I am here to listen and to provide you with a space where you feel heard, held, valued and of worth. A space where you can learn to be open and honest with yourself about your wants and needs. A space to re-connect to you, to become curious, to explore and experiment with the idea of change. A space to release and let go. A space to BE ... without judgement, without shame or guilt ... A space to enhance and celebrate the wonderful and unique being you already are.
The first step may always be the hardest but know that I am here, ready and waiting to support you when you are ready to take it.
Practice description
I believe that counselling is a journey of perspective and that talking therapies examine, challenge and widen your view of the world and even offer space for new perspectives, bringing about clarity and opportunities for growth and change where previously you may have felt overwhelmed and/or stuck.
I also appreciate that talking isn't always an easy or comfortable process and that this can be off-putting to many seeking support. Here creative processes such as working with art, creative visualisations, mindfulness, movement, sand, symbols and metaphors and any other interest or passions you may have can support you in your therapy process by tapping in to other parts of the inner wisdom you possess and allowing you to communicate with yourself and with me in a different way.
Don't worry though - this is all about the process of being creative rather than being artistic and so there is no expectation to 'produce' something gallery or even fridge worthy!
My first session
The counselling relationship is the biggest tool we have towards empowerment and change and so choosing a counsellor that you feel safe and comfortable with is vital - often people comment on telling their counsellor things they have never told anyone else before and so trust is essential. Every client is different, as is every counsellor!
This is why I offer a free initial session!
During our initial session we can explore the ways in which you feel you would like to work together, briefly outline your current situation and your hopes for counselling and provide you with an opportunity to get answers to any questions or concerns that you may have about how counselling with me works.
Whilst we may also draft a counselling agreement and discuss practical arrangements for sessions, this is done in the interests of transparency and information sharing to support our decision to work together or not as appropriate. The initial session is free and you will not be asked to confirm any arrangements during this session to ensure that you do not feel pressured or obliged to work together thereafter.
I would love to work with you and so hope that I have the right training and skills to support you and that you feel comfortable enough to be yourself in my presence (whether in person or online). If not, then I may be able to direct you to the support you are looking for, meaning that you have nothing to lose by getting in touch!
I look forward to hearing from you,
Rosy
