About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Luke and I'm a fully qualified Person-centred counsellor. I am also a registered member of the BACP.
I am trained to work remotely via secure online methods and also offer face to face appointments.
I work from a person-centered approach, which means I'm here to explore with you your thoughts and feelings around a particular challenge or obstacle you find yourself with in a way to be able to empower you to find your own way forward.
Sessions go at your pace, and with regular reviews to ensure we are both working towards the same goals, or altering our direction towards a new goal should this be needed.
I have extensive experience supporting people at a time of crisis and also emotionally supporting anyone going through a difficult time and I will provide a safe space for you to be able to explore this in your own time.
Using an integrative approach, I can implement particular styles to ensure you're receiving the most appropriate service from me at all times to ensure a resolution to what you brought to therapy.
I'm continuously learning through the work I do with my clients I see and the additional qualifications I'm pursuing to apply the most effective tools to ensure a cost-effective and efficacious experience with me.
Practice description
I offer a safe space for you to share your thoughts, feelings and challenges you may be experiencing, so we can explore together more about where these may be coming from, exploration as to how these can be overcome, and also promoting self-awareness and helpful tools to help you manage difficulties in the present and going forward into the future.
Empowerment is at the heart of everything I do. My philosophy is that you are your own advocate to manage life's challenges. Working with me will bring this in to focus.
Our unique working agreement will underpin all of our work together. Honesty, Respect, Patience and a safe space to share what you are ready to. Working together to explore, understand and find your way forward through the difficult times.
You can expect me to be present with you at all times during our time together. You can also expect challenges to aid understanding and exploration of different options. A side benefit to working with me is a deeper insight in to how you think, feel, and react to certain situations and by pausing to reflect in therapy can be a habit to practice after therapy concludes.
Therapy is not only to help address what is happening in the here and now, but also to equip you with the tools, knowledge and awareness to be able to work through future challenges too.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute introductory session where we can speak either over the phone or via a video call to give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and how it will work. It's important we are both able to work together in a therapeutic relationship and the decision regarding starting that process is yours.
Following the introductory session, and should you wish to pursue therapy with me, a copy of our working agreement (contract) will be sent over to you for me to gain a deeper understanding of what you are wanting to bring to therapy. Sensitive information will also be required in order for me to make a determination as to whether we are able to move forward.
Once the contract has been received and stored securely. An invitation to our first session will be sent with opportunity on the first session to be able to answer any further questions and to underpin the core of how we are going to work together. In these very early sessions I want to really understand you, listen to you, and explore in detail the challenges you are facing.
