About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counsellor, my approach is rooted in the belief that every individual has inherent worth and is entitled to essential human connection—to be acknowledged, valued, listened to, and understood.
My work is client-centred and I tailor therapy by integrating various therapeutic theories and approaches, such as psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, creative approaches, solution-focused (brief) therapy, attachment theory, and elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), to meet your individual needs.
Research indicates that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is more important for a positive outcome than the specific theories or approaches a therapist uses. My work focuses on fostering a therapeutic relationship that allows for the safe exploration of your deepest concerns and desires, creating an environment of trust, acceptance, and respect. This space also helps enhance intimacy in your most important relationships, including the relationship with yourself.
I have worked with clients from various socio-cultural backgrounds with a wide variety of issues such as: trauma, attachment, stress, anxiety, life transitions, anger management and relationships, amongst others. I have experience helping people with self-confidence and questioning their purpose in life. I would aim to develop a therapeutic and collaborative relationship with you so that you could explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours from various perspectives. I believe you are the self-expert and that you can grow, heal, and reach your best potential.
Let’s team up towards your goal for more balanced life.
Practice description
Although I am based in Burgess Hill, England, most of my sessions are delivered online. I understand that communicating with a counsellor online may be scary for some individuals, but please contact me if you feel so and we can explore this together.
What to expect
When you reach out to me, I will respond as soon as I can, usually within a few days. We will then arrange a 15-minute initial session to discuss your reasons for seeking counselling. This session also provides an opportunity for you to get to know me and my working style, helping you decide if I am the right counsellor for you. If you choose to proceed with counselling after this session, we will schedule a time for your weekly sessions.
Guiding you to self-discovery and choice
I will help you to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and concerns, and in doing so we may better understand how and why you think, feel or behave the way you do and what choices you may have.
Safe, compassionate space for personal growth
I provide support and a safe space for exploration in a non-judgmental, empathic, secure, warm and compassionate setting where individuals can confidentially engage in the exploration of past experiences, present challenges and life transitions. On the principles of trust, confidentiality and collaboration, I will endeavour to help you unlock your inner potential.
I believe you are the self-expert and that you can grow, heal, and reach your best potential.
What happens if we're not a good fit?
This might happen and you are welcome to share your decision to stop counselling at any time if you feel the need to do so. Research indicates that the strongest predictor of positive change is the therapeutic relationship. If necessary, I will assist you in transitioning to another therapist if I am not the right fit for you.
My first session
One day or Day one—you decide to begin the journey!
Starting counselling can bring up a range of emotions, and that’s completely normal. You may feel relieved, hopeful, uncertain, or even a bit overwhelmed. Whatever you’re feeling is okay, and we can discuss it in our session. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, safe, and informed about everything counselling entails.
Counselling contract, confidentiality and privacy
The contract provides structure and boundaries for our work . We’ll cover some key aspects of confidentiality and privacy policy, including session length, frequency, rescheduling and other practicalities will be covered. I want you to feel secure about what to expect so that we can focus fully on your goals.
Understanding your needs and goals
After covering the basics, I’d love to hear what’s brought you to counselling. Some people come with a specific concern, like anxiety or relationship stress, while others seek clarity on more abstract issues, such as feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Feel free to share as much or as little as you like; we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Exploring background
For context, it can be helpful to know a bit about your background, such as family dynamics or significant life events. We don’t need to dive deeply right away, and please only share what you’re comfortable with. This information helps me understand the broader picture.
Setting goals
We’ll discuss your goals, which may range from managing stress to finding clarity or simply having a safe space for processing emotions. Goals may evolve over time, and that’s natural; think of this as a journey where our starting point and endpoint may differ.
How sessions will work
In each session, you can share what feels important to you. There’s no “right” way to proceed; some days may be focused on specific issues, while others may be more reflective. I may introduce strategies as needed, always in alignment with what feels right for you.
One day or Day one—you decide!
