About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Saana. At Saana Counselling, I understand that starting therapy can be daunting, especially for children. It’s new, and it’s natural to feel unsure about what to expect and what your therapist might be like. That’s why I am committed to creating a warm, safe space where children and young people can feel comfortable, free from the fear of judgment.

As a qualified child counsellor and integrative therapist, I use various therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, to help children express their feelings in a way that feels natural. Many children find it easier to open up when they are not focused directly on the person in front of them. Play therapy provides them with a creative outlet to communicate their emotions and challenges.

I explain things in a way that’s easy for children to understand, helping them feel more at ease with the process. By fostering a space where they can be their authentic selves, I empower children to express their true feelings without the fear of being judged or ridiculed.

I work flexibly with each child’s needs, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy to best support their emotional growth. I also work as a school counsellor, helping children and young people navigate school pressures, friendships, and family dynamics.

My experience includes supporting children dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, bullying, and other emotional difficulties. Therapy can be transformative, helping children gain self-awareness, learn coping strategies, and build resilience.

I offer face-to-face, online, and telephone therapy, providing flexibility for families. If you have questions or want to discuss how I can support your child, please reach out. I’m here to help.

Practice description

I can offer sessions within Solihull Wellbeing Clinic in Birmingham.  Accessible rooms are available for individuals with mobility issues, subject to availability.

I provide a free introductory 10–15-minute phone consultation so you can have the opportunity to ask any questions and decide whether we could work together. This gives us both a feel of how we might be able to work alongside one another in supporting you to reach your therapeutic goals.

If you decide to proceed, we can schedule an assessment session to discuss your goals and expectations for counselling, as well as how I might assist you.

It takes courage to take the first step towards getting help, and I understand the importance of finding someone you can trust to accompany you on your journey.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries and I will do my best to respond to you promptly.

I look forward to hearing from you
