About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in supporting people through bereavement, grief and loss. This can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused, exhausted and isolated. I will help you to cope with your loss and to move forward in a healthy and meaningful way.
Having experienced the traumatic death of someone close to me, I understand that grief can feel life-changing. You may be feeling stuck, like you can’t move forward with your life or enjoy the things you used to.
Maybe you are struggling with anxiety, anger, depression, low self-esteem or a loss of confidence and sense of identity.
I can help you to cope with your loss, to re-find meaning and purpose in your life and to believe that you will be able to enjoy life again.
I can help with :
- Sudden unexpected death, for example in an accident or illness
- Childhood loss that still affects you as an adult
- Loss during Covid-19. You may have been unable to see your loved one at the end or had a proper funeral due to restrictions in the Pandemic
- Complicated grief when your relationship has not been easy, perhaps leaving you feeling angry and hurt. This might be because you argued, were separated or because the person who died was abusive
- Delayed grief, this is sometimes because of family conflict or something in your life that means to don’t process your loss
- Suicide
- Death of a baby or child including through miscarriage or stillbirth
- Anticipated grief, this is the grief you feel as you anticipate the loss of a loved one or your own death after a diagnosis of terminal illness or dementia
- Death of a beloved pet
Everyone's experience is unique, and we will work in a personalised way, enabling you to move forwards in a healthy and meaningful way.
Loss
I can also support you with significant life-changes that may leave you feeling lost and confused, for example:
- Relationship breakdown.
- A sense of loss of childhood because of abuse, trauma or loss of security through sexual violence.
- Loss of freedom to choose and loss of control due to ill health or an accident.
Practice description
I will provide safe, non-judgmental, compassionate and empathetic counselling where you will feel supported and heard.
My goal is to help you find meaning and purpose in the midst of your challenges and to help you to find the tools and support you need to cope and to heal and move forward in a positive way.
I work with an integrative model of counselling which is a holistic approach that draws on several different theories and techniques to create a personalised approach that is tailored to each individual client and their unique needs, goals and circumstances.
I work online and on the phone.
Privacy: I will discuss how I process any data that you provide to me when we meet and I will send you a written privacy statement.
My first session
Please email me or phone to arrange a free 30-minute consultation to talk about what you are looking for and for me to answer any of your questions.
I can tell you a bit more about how counselling works if you are unfamiliar with the process. This will give you an opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable with me and for me to understand more about your needs and to see if I feel that I am the right person to help you. There is no obligation to continue working with me after this.
If we feel that we can work well together then we will schedule a full counselling session. This will last 50 minutes and for a regular day and time each week, online or on the telephone as you prefer.
Therapy can be short, medium or long-term and we will review regularly and agree when you think you will be ready to end counselling. This will always be your choice.
