About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Sadie, an integrative therapist. I’m a big believer that in order to take care of our mental health, we need to take a holistic approach. I encourage clients to recognise all of their parts: the physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual, in order to understand how overall health can be impacted.
Whilst studying and working as a therapist, I’ve held corporate marketing roles for nearly two decades, as well as qualifying as a remedial massage therapist and Pilates teacher to compliment my continuing interest in movement and exercise as a source of therapy. I've observed how stress and trauma can be held in the body, and how cleverly our bodies are able to communicate with us once we become aware of how to listen. I view therapy as an explorative process, and believe it offers us the opportunity to view ourselves with curiosity and without judgement.
My therapeutic approach is client-led depending on their needs, and I draw from various types of therapy modalities such as psychodynamic, person-centred, Gestalt and existential psychotherapy to find a model that works for you. Our work together will be informed by your goals and what you want to get out of them.
Practice description
My intention is to provide a comfortable and safe space to talk openly and honestly with my clients. The development of our relationship will be the starting point to the therapy work.
I encourage exploration of behavioural patterns and reactions in our sessions, and aim to shine a light on how these might be impacting your life. I work with the belief that each client is the expert on themselves, and my role is to facilitate the discovery of insights and learnings that can allow self-compassion and positive acceptance.
Choosing to start therapy is a brave step, and I can appreciate that finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process; therefore I'm committed to putting your needs first and to work at whichever pace is required. I also offer a complimentary 15 minute intro call so that you have the opportunity to ask me any questions before committing to a session.
My first session
Ahead of booking any sessions, I suggest we set up a 15 minute free and confidential exploratory call. This allows you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about therapy and my approach. It's also important to see if you feel comfortable talking with me. I believe that a solid relationship is the foundation for any effective therapy work.
This intro call also offers you the chance to tell me more about what brought you to therapy.
