About me and my therapy practice
About Me
I am a BACP registered humanistic and integrative psychotherapist, with a wide range of experience and approaches. I meet with individuals and couples, as well as groups.
I have taken extensive training, including a BSc in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Relational and Developmental).
My Psychotherapy Experience Includes:
- Private Practice
- The Nottingham Counselling Service
- Psychotherapist in residential rehabilitation services (extensive experience in group facilitation)
- Group Therapy Facilitator
- Substance Misuse Practitioner
- Working with complex Trauma and a wide range of mental health diagnoses
- E.A.P (Employment Assist Programs)
How I Practice
I believe that we all to some degree become damaged in relationships and as research suggests the relationship holds the key to healing and lasting change.
Therefore, my approach to psychotherapy is developmentally informed and relationally focused. I believe that past experiences do have an impact on the present, but thankfully the past does not have to define who we are today. “Change is possible”.
I integrate parts of different approaches to tailor my therapeutic interventions to provide a unique way of working that is based on your individual needs.
Effective and successful therapy work is dependent upon the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Therefore, I promise my approach is always geared towards facilitating an authentic, honest, and real engagement with my clients, from an open-minded attitude that allows for the exploration of personal and sensitive issues within a safe and confidential therapeutic space.
My fees are:
• Individual Therapy (1hr sessions) @ £65 per session
• Couples Therapy (1.5hr sessions) @ £110 per session
• Group Therapy 1.5-hour Process Groups @ £50 per person (usually groups of 6 approx.)
Practice description
My sessions are via Zoom online, Telephone, Face-to-Face, and home visits when needed.
I provide both short and long-term Psychotherapy depending on individual needs.
I offer an optional free consultation of 30 minutes on Zoom.
Individual Adult Sessions
There is no limit as to what can be discussed in therapy, and I welcome you to bring absolutely anything, from general improvement to more complex, specific issues including:
- Anxiety (what is anxiety, where does it come from, and how to manage anxiety)
- ADHD (diverse range of neurodiversity)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD- including Asperger's syndrome)
- Dyspraxia
- Depression
- Existential Issues (Meaninglessness, Loss of Purpose)
- Relational Trauma
- A wide range of mental health diagnoses
Couples
Relationship issues vary considerably, and I work with a wide range of couples from different age ranges, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations.
The most common types of relationship issues include; arguing and conflict, affairs and betrayals, life transitions (starting a family, blending of families, children leaving home, financial stress, retirement), fertility issues, and loss of communication.
Group Therapy
Some people attend group sessions to learn how to cope with anxiety or depression symptoms, as well as, to learn from other members who have lived through similar traumatic events.
Group therapy (sometimes called a Process Group) is a form of social therapy that allows individuals to interact with others who may relate to what they are going through. The group is an effective way to look at how you can present yourself to others, based on the idea that people can learn about themselves by interacting with others in a safe and supportive environment.
The group (usually between 6-9 individual members who commit to attending weekly) acts as a therapeutic community of individuals (or, as I prefer a therapeutic tribe or village) who learn from one another in a confidential, holding environment.
My first session
"Let's take that first step together".
Free 30-Minute Consultation (Online Zoom or telephone)
During the initial consultation, I will begin by taking some background information and together we can explore what brings you to therapy and what you would like to achieve.
We can begin to understand what it would feel like working together, and I can answer any questions you may have. I will be there to guide you through this process, as I relationally assess your needs.
If we both decide we can work together I will send you the therapy contract to read, sign, and return before our first therapy session.
Payments are made by bank transfer before each session.
My First Session Details
During your first session, I will continue to gather more specific background information focussing on key events, both good and bad (think of it like a snapshot of your life). And, through this process of empathic inquiry into your unique experience, we will begin to identify your needs and goals.
"I will do my best to understand you and I believe you have the power to change".
