About me and my therapy practice
Hi and thanks for visiting my profile. I’m Diya and I am a qualified integrative counsellor and therapist registered with the BACP and BAATN.
What I offer:
- Online sessions via Zoom or Teams.
- Non-judgemental, collaborative and culturally sensitive sessions to adults (18+). My integrative training means that I can tailor my approach to suit individual needs and requirements.
- Both short-term sessions (usually between 6 to 12 sessions depending on individual needs) and long term open-ended therapy.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the marketing and customer research sector for over 9 years. I also set up my own freelance consultancy business. I hold an understanding of the pressures and demands of working in a fast paced environment.
I completed my training in UK. I have lived in different countries and bring all these diverse experiences to the way I work.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor and therapist, I draw from and integrate different approaches in my work including:
• person centred
• psychodynamic
• trauma informed thinking
• somatic and body work
• CBT
• mindfulness amongst others.
I feel strongly that client’s needs are different and should not be forced or squeezed into a singular way of thinking. I tailor my approach based on what works for you and welcome feedback on what’s working and what can be done differently.
I consider the interconnectedness of the mind and body. I explore your past, present and hopes for the future but also include other influences that can impact us, for example, the socio-political climate, different cultures, value systems and expectations and intergenerational experiences.
I provide practical techniques and strategies to support you in the present and future.
I am committed towards honouring and respecting difference and diversity be it culture, sexuality, gender, family or faith amongst others.
I have experience of working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
My first session
It is important to find the right therapist with whom you can feel comfortable and safe. It’s understandable to hold different worries including whether you will be understood or if the therapy sessions will be helpful or not.
With this in mind, I offer an initial free no-obligation online 20 minute conversation.
This is an opportunity for us to connect and introduce ourselves. I can answer any questions that you have and discuss practicalities such as your availability. If we both feel we can work together, we will schedule our first session together.
What you can expect in our first session:
We will explore what is bringing you to therapy in more detail and what your hopes and expectations are. We can discuss if you would like short-term or open-ended sessions. This is an opportunity for you to get to know me and the way that I work in collaboration with you.
This session will be 50 minutes and charged at my usual rate.
We will then schedule regular weekly sessions which will take place at the same time.
Please contact me to book in a free 20 minute online conversation or if you have any questions for me.
