About me and my therapy practice
I understand that wanting a happier and more satisfying life may seem unattainable, particularly if we are dealing with complex, painful emotions or negative feelings which can cause us to feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or feeling stuck.
Reaching out for support takes courage, as it involves opening up about personal experiences and emotions. Therefore, finding a qualified professional you experience as friendly, warm and empathic, who will make you feel heard and understood without fear of criticism, can help you uncover a new, deeper understanding of yourself and help you make sense of your experiences.
In my work, I address a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, sexual well-being, work-related issues and trauma.
As human beings, connecting with others meaningfully creates peace, joy, happiness and success in our lives. As a psychodynamic and integrative therapist, I will make space and build a relationship with you that feels safe and comforting to explore your inner world so that you can tackle issues and experience joy in your life outside.
Practice description
I work in-person from home in a comfortable, confidential space or online via Zoom.
I will listen to as much or as little as you wish to share during our sessions. We can delve into your past, exploring the various environments, events, and relationships that have shaped and influenced you. By listening to the stories you share with me – whether they are sad, heart-warming, or routine – we will begin to piece together a picture of the ideas and beliefs that have been instilled in you and how they impact your life.
We can explore what you have learned about love, family, comfort and pain. What messages have you received about relationships? Worrying about providing too much detail, taking too long, or omitting something important is natural. However, there is no right or wrong way to approach this process. What you choose to exclude can be as significant as what you include. The narratives we allow into our minds can either uplift or break us down. The actual events hold less importance than the meanings and feelings behind them.
I have undergone years of personal therapy, a requirement of my training, to ensure that understanding my internal world has equipped me to assist my clients in understanding themselves.
I have dedicated years of working for a mental health charity, and now I have my private practice, where I have experience in supporting clients with various challenges, whether this is your first experience with counselling or you have had experience with therapy before.
