About me and my therapy practice
As a Psychotherapist who works with adults, I offer an honest and compassionate relationship, in which I hold no preconceptions or expectations of you. Through dialogue and exploration, I can support you to find new ways of thinking, feeling, and understanding yourself, which will enable you to manage the challenges you face.
My qualifications include an MSc, and an Advanced Diploma, both in Psychotherapy. I am registered member of the UKCP and the BACP. I have regular clinical supervision with a leading expert in my field.
My main psychotherapeutic approach is gestalt, which considers the mind and body together, and how the past impacts current experiences. I also draw on psychodynamic theory. I have experience working with people who have been oppressed because of difference and diversity. I also have experience of working with people who have suffered loss, trauma (including historic trauma and abuse) and people who are currently experiencing anxiety and depression. My training has equipped me to support people through whatever life experiences they are faced with.
Practice description
Therapy sessions are weekly, and I usually work with clients over a period of months or years. I work in-person from the Meridian Counselling Centre in Birmingham. I also work in-person from a therapy room in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield. For people who prefer, I offer remote working via the zoom online-video platform.
My first session
If you would like to explore the possibility of psychotherapy with me, I can be contacted by telephone or you can send an enquiry. If I don’t answer the telephone, please leave a message and I will get back to you within 24 hours. We can then arrange an initial assessment session which will be carried out over the telephone or by video link. In the assessment session I will ask you questions about your personal history, your current issues and expectations of therapy, and you will have chance to ask questions and gain an impression of me. We will then decide if we want to continue working together. The fee for the assessment session is £50 and payable by BACS in advance of the session.
