About me and my therapy practice

As a humanistic counsellor I believe that therapy is about self exploration, which can help when you are struggling with your current life, perhaps feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stressed or depressed.

I aim to create a relationship with you in which you can feel safe to be fully transparent and talk about difficult or painful experiences, thoughts or feelings. I hope that through a reflective partnership, I can help you become more self aware but with no judgement.

Through developing a trusting relationship, I can help you explore and share insight into how you see yourself and we can work together to look at who and where you are and the opportunity for change.

Practice description

I am an experienced counsellor, with a PGDip in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton and I am a registered member of the BACP.

I continue to work in the voluntary sector as a counsellor for several charities, providing counselling for people in their own homes due to limited mobility as well as people with caring responsibilities. I also have a keen interest in young peoples mental health and support parents whose children are struggling.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked as a business lecturer at several universities and understand the many challenges that students and staff may experience in academia. My first career was in fast-paced hospitality businesses for many years and I recognise the pressures of this demanding industry.

My first session

I offer counselling either in-person or via video calls. I offer an initial free 30 minute appointment, so we can get to know one another and decide if we want to work together. In this session we can discuss what you want from counselling, and you can get a feel for how I work and decide if that is right for you. You are under no obligation to continue.

If we do decide to continue working together, regular appointments are 50 minutes and cost £50.

I believe counselling should be accessible to all, therefore I offer a limited number of places for students at £40 and concessions for people on low incomes.
