About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Growth Counselling. Seeking support is a sign of strength, and I commend you for taking this step. My name is Richard, and I am a qualified counsellor. I am here to help you navigate your journey towards emotional well-being, resilience, and self-discovery.
Support from others is vital to our emotional well-being. However, sometimes we may find ourselves 'stuck' in a rut or struggling with sensitive issues that could benefit from a neutral professional approach. Growth Counselling offers a safe and confidential space to express and contemplate your worries. It provides an environment free from judgment, allowing you to:
- Enhance your relationships
- Gain a deeper understanding of your issues
- Discover strategies for personal growth and wellbeing
- Facilitate decision-making processes
- Build self-confidence
- Explore and address past or current difficulties
Deciding to look for a counsellor is often difficult; sometimes, it is the hardest thing to do. Taking that first step can take a lot of strength and emotional resources. Therefore, if you get in touch, I will try to make the process as easy as possible.
If you are considering counselling and have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Practice description
In my practice, I embrace an integrative approach to counselling, which draws upon a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, person-centred and psychodynamic theory. Rather than adhering rigidly to a singular theory, I have recognised the value of incorporating different approaches to best tailor your specific needs. This approach allows for flexibility and adaptability as I work with you to explore and understand your experiences, emotions, and challenges.
I aim to refrain from offering direct advice or dictating actions but rather to inspire and empower you to explore various avenues for resolving your challenges. To provide you with the autonomy to determine the most suitable and effective means of progressing and achieving your goals.

At various points in our lives, we all face challenges and obstacles. These difficulties often arise during times of change, uncertainty, isolation, or stress. They can be related to specific events or situations, both past and present, or they may revolve around various aspects such as childhood, relationships, communication, health, bereavement, self-esteem, sexuality, low moods, motivation, or work-related concerns.
