Availability
My available hours are usually on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm. This can and does change according to how busy I am. It is always advisable to check with me first. It might be that I have a availability in a couple of weeks or even a few days. Please feel able to call or email me with any questions regarding my availability to hold space for you. I cannot predict if a personal or family situation will take me away from my practice but if that does happen my intention is to inform clients as soon as possible.
About me and my therapy practice
My name is Mara and I am a therapist and a supervisor. I have spent most of my time working in education in a role that has been multi faceted. I am experienced in working with external agencies and with safeguarding issues. I have attended many child protection meetings and worked extensively with young people and their families. I have helped many people to work through very difficult situations and help them find the courage to be vulnerable enough to have those difficult conversations and feel the relief in letting go of their pain for possibly the first time.
I like to be flexible in how I work, I do not believe that we are all the same so I do not expect clients to fit into a box that is not comfortable for them. I offer walking therapy for those clients who find sitting face to face too difficult. I use Zoom, telephone, and WhatsApp video with clients who are too far away to meet in person.
Practice description
I believe in the importance of being real with my clients, and to enable my clients to show up and be seen, possibly for the first time in their lives. I believe that we cannot ignore our pain and I hope that by entering into therapy with me will allow you to find the courage to allow me to sit with you and your pain and allow the repair to bring about healing.
As a therapist I will notice changes in your breathing, how you sit and perhaps shift when we are talking about things that are perhaps difficult or traumatic. I will gently and respectfully name what I see happening as I believe that by naming what is happening in your therapy it will encourage courageous conversations.
I believe that therapy is about healing the deepest of wounds in a safe space.
Let us do the work together.
My first session
Prior to the first session I will offer a chat on the phone so that the client can ask questions and to see if we feel that we can work together. I also send out a pre therapy agreement which I ask clients to read and sign if they agree with what is shared in the agreement.
