About me and my therapy practice

As a therapist, I believe our personal experiences have a profound impact on how we perceive and interact with the world around us. We receive messages on how we should live our lives, and we learn to accommodate those messages in hopes to “fit in” with society. As an Asian gay man who grew up in Thailand and also sent to boarding school, I understand the challenges of living authentically while also trying to honor the norms, values, and expectations of the community you come from.

Navigating and working toward our goals can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be impossible. With a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space, I will help you along the way as you figure out your path. I have experience working with and specialise in sexual trauma, racial trauma, attachment-based trauma, boarding school survivors, and complex trauma as well as racial identity, gender identity, third culture kid experience, and interracial relationship.

Whether you are BAME/BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, an immigrant, an international student who is struggling to find their place in the UK or a new country, a high achieving individual who feels you’re not enough, couples who are experiencing challenges due to cultural and lifestyles differences, or an individual who is striving for personal growth, I am here to help you along the way.

Practice description

I am an integrative psychotherapist which means I don't prescribe to any particular approach. I believe that there are no such things a one-size-fits-all to therapy. My approach is, however, deep rooted in person-centered and psychodynamic in nature. In our work together, I value collaborative approach as I believe that clients are expert in their lives. I often draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as approaches like Internal Family System, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness base practices, etc. I like to incorporate Somatic work into my work with clients and I also trained and offer EMDR therapy for those who seek trauma focused therapy.

My first session

First session is usually different than other sessions that we will be working together but not by much. We will spend time getting to know each other. There will be a lot of questions involved and you will be asked to complete some documents prior to our first session. We will spend time establishing therapeutic goals and discuss plan on how we will work together to achieve those goals. These goals are not my goals which means that we will work collaboratively in coming up with goals that you think feasible, attainable, and most importantly sustainable for you. However, don't worry! These goals are not definitive and we can adjust them as we go along in our work together.
