About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Linda. Taking the first steps towards positive change can be hard at times but It's never too late to begin the process.
Looking for a counsellor requires courage, by doing so, you have already taken a positive step towards a more hopeful future.
Life can be challenging, and we all experience different feelings and emotions. These emotions may cause feelings of guilt, fear, anger, hopelessness, anxiety, confusion, and depression. These feelings can have a big impact on your self-esteem and confidence.
Life events, such as grief, abuse, relationship break-ups, trauma, illness, childhood trauma, family breakdowns, work, or stresses of everyday life can cause your anxiety levels to escalate.
I understand how overwhelming this feels, seeing the 'wood for the trees' seems almost impossible! The effect this has on your emotional and physical well-being can be truly impacted. But, together we can explore what's going on for you so that you find calm and clarity in your life once more.
As a compassionate counsellor, I can help you understand what triggers your emotions and will offer you ways to manage and make sense of them, giving you back a level of control over your life.
My goal is to support you through that process in a non-judgmental way. I will listen to your story with warmth and understanding in a confidential calm space, where we can discover new ways for you to manage your emotions with a clearer more positive mindset.
Trusting someone new can feel scary, but, together we can build a therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable talking to me about what's happening in your life at a pace that feels right for you.
I understand trust takes time to build, and I will not press you to discuss anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or, that you feel is too painful to share.
Practice description
I work with individual clients dealing with stress, anxiety, abuse, trauma, depression, grief, and clients who need to come to terms with loved one’s illnesses or terminal diagnoses.
I also work alongside individual clients dealing with confidence issues and low self-esteem. Or, if you need someone to talk to when life's uncertainties seem difficult to understand.
I provide therapy to couples going through a tough time, and when you need extra support to work through the bumps in the road. My couples therapy is about helping partners navigate the challenges that can create stress even in the strongest relationships.
Whether your relationship is struggling with communication breakdowns, dealing with the aftermath of betrayal, or trust issues, I'm here to provide a safe, non-judgmental space. We tackle everything from recurring conflicts and communication issues to more intimate challenges like sexual problems that can create distance between partners. My approach is compassionate and practical – we'll work together to understand the root of your struggles, develop healthier communication patterns, and help you reconnect in more meaningful ways.
My volunteering history is in bereavement, anxiety, depression, abuse, and therapy for carers and their loved ones with terminal illnesses.
I am qualified to offer therapy to trainee person-centered counsellors completing their placement hours.
I offer one-hour face-to-face sessions, as well as one-hour online ZOOM sessions for individual clients, and 1.15 hours for couples.
Home visits can be provided depending on location and needs,
I keep up to date with Continued Professional Development as required by the BACP, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am a registered member.
