About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Matt. I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor, with a background in supporting adults and young people through physical and psychological challenges. I have worked as a mentor with young adults excluded from mainstream education, and as a grief companion attached to a hospice.
I work relationally, which means I place great emphasis on the value in building our relationship, as well as the way that other relationships function in your life. We work in the here and now, with some attention to how your past might be impacting you currently.
I am trained in transpersonal psychology, which means my approach to therapy is holistic. Living is an embodied experience, it is mind and body and I work with the whole being. I believe that we have an innate desire to go beyond known limitations.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the Ethical Framework of the BACP that protects both clients and therapists.
Practice description
What might lead you to therapy?
I think that being human can be a mysterious and unsettling business, and that most of us can benefit from personal therapy at some point. There are times when your voice needs to be heard in a safe and supportive place.
You may be experiencing a particularly tough period in your life, where relationships are unsatisfying and you feel unloved, with a sense of pain and isolation and a longing for more. You may feel a deep grief or sense of loss, without a clear idea about its origin. In our work together, I will offer you a committed and non-judgmental relationship, a safe space for us to explore your story from a deeper place, and an opportunity to reflect on your life's meaning, beyond everyday identities. Creating and maintaining fulfilling and loving relationships is something we all aspire to, but this is never easy. Some of your fears and anxieties may also be related to our very fragile existence as humans on planet earth in these challenging times.
Some memories can be felt deeply in our bodies, and at times I might suggest using ‘Focusing,’ body memory work, for you to explore some of the most stuck and difficult areas.
My first session
Our initial contact will be by email. If I am able to offer a space that suits you, and you are willing to go-ahead, I will send you a questionnaire to complete and return before we meet. What I can help with

Practice description
I trained in psychosynthesis, a transpersonal psychology. The approach promotes greater self-understanding, with a belief that we all have an inherent desire for growth. It is a useful approach in relation to issues around self-worth. In our sessions, we will explore your sense of self, beyond your day to day personal identity. I work with both individuals and couples.
My first session
Our first contact will be via email. If I am able to find you a space, and you wish to continue, I will email you a questionnaire to complete and return before we meet. Our first session will be spent discussing your answers and broadly agreeing the scope of our work together. This will also allow us to begin to get to know each other.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Matt. I am a therapeutic counsellor, with a background in supporting adults and young people through physical and psychological challenges. I have worked as a mentor with young adults excluded from mainstream education, and as a grief companion attached to a hospice.
I believe in the power of working in nature, and although London parks are not deep countryside, they still offer some sense of the natural world that we are all part of. Walking and talking in nature is also sometimes easier than sitting in a room with a therapist.
I work relationally, which means I place great emphasis on the value in building our relationship, as well as the effectiveness and function of the other relationships in your life. We work in the here and now, and consider how your past life might be impacting you currently.
