I offer flexible hours in the day and some evenings.About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Emma and I am a counsellor who works with clients either ONLINE or over the telephone. I work with clients who suffer from all kinds of issues such as: anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, work-related stress, family issues, health issues.
It is common to have periods of our lives where we need support.
What have previous clients said?
• "Emma really helped me to see things from another perspective. To think about my situation and focus on what I really needed to put my time and energy towards. That has been such a help and a really freeing process. I have recommended Emma to friends because having someone to offload life to or deal with hurts and life hang ups is just so valuable!" Client C
• "I survived this dark period of my life because of you. Your kindness will be with me always" Client P.
I offer short and long-term ONLINE counselling as well as offering flexible hours.
Practice description
I offer a welcoming, calm and non-judgemental space, for you to gently open up about what has been bothering you. It may be current issues or things relating to your past, e.g. empty nest, elderly relatives, marriage issues. We can explore these at your own pace and help you to reach a place of understanding and self-acceptance.
I know from my own experience how life-changing counselling can be. Looking at my profile means you have made the first step to reach out and get help. Feel free to contact me for a booking. Help is a short phone call away where we can discuss any presenting issues before the first session.
Training and Qualifications:
• CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
• CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
• CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
• Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
• BEd Primary Teaching
My Previous career was in Primary Education for 25 years
I have worked for a charity in Reading and now have my own private practice.
I am also a mother of a child on the Autism spectrum so have knowledge of what this entails as a parent dealing with the educational, legal and benefits systems
My first session
Our first session is where we will briefly discuss our contract and do a brief assessment. This is an ideal time to clarify what you would like to focus on and to ask me any questions about the way I work.
In our sessions, you will decide what you wish to bring no matter how big or small it seems. I will hear what you bring without judging and together we will explore your feelings about things happening today or from your past.
You may find past experiences have shaped the way you behave today, it is never too late to change your path going forward.
Counselling is generally a 'talking therapy' however, if you feel 'stuck' or are unable to put your finger on what is bothering you we can try different approaches such as role play, writing, drawing to see what comes up for you.
My previous experience working within Education for 25 years, means I have a few imaginative approaches up my sleeve should you need them!
Overall, the most important thing to take away is counselling with me is 'your time' to work on yourself at 'your pace.'

The first step is often the hardest, but something has brought you to this stage of enquiry. Feel free to reach out to me via email or telephone to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
I offer flexible hours and work can be short term, goal orientated or longer term, deeper work. You decide what to bring and we work at the depth you require and the pace you are happy with.
Practice description
Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Perhaps your family life is stressful and you would like help in dealing with the dynamics of relationships? Do you find people walk all over your boundaries at work?
Sometimes people feel 'out of sorts' but are not entirely sure what they want from therapy. This is perfectly normal and quite often the case. We can work together to consider what has brought you to counselling and this will be done at your own pace.
Generally, counselling is a talking therapy but we can consider others ways of creatively working if you find this difficult. I can offer you an opportunity to take some time to work through your difficulties, find your voice and consider your own needs. I have previously worked with children of all ages in education and so am able to be flexible in my imaginative approach to meeting clients' needs.
