About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Aneta. I am a relational integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, which means that I draw from various approaches, including Person Centred, Gestalt and Psychodynamic, putting the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my work. As each client is unique, so is the relationship we co-create.
I have experience working therapeutically with people from all walks of life, but my two main areas of expertise are supporting people to process their trauma (both recent and historic) and working with clients from ethnically diverse communities.
I trained at the University of the West of England, Bristol, and hold a Master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. In addition to my counselling degree, I hold a Level 4 counselling certificate in Person Centred and Psychodynamic Skills (University of the West of England).
In addition to my private practice I am also involved with WGN charity in London where I work as a specialist counsellor supporting women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence.
Practice description
Therapy can provide you with the opportunity to talk in confidence about difficulties you are experiencing in your life. I will not give you advice or make decisions for you as I believe we all have an inborn ability to find the answers within. My role is to respond with understanding, to help you find out why you feel as you do and to explore what choices are there for you, to make your life more manageable. I will offer some observations or ask questions that will invite you to look at your problem/ issue from a different perspective.
I would like to help you to understand what might be holding you back, connect with your inner self and find peace regardless of your life circumstances. I believe that psychological well-being does not mean perfection and getting rid of problems but is rooted in awareness and developing tools to cope with life’s challenges.
I work from a trauma informed, integrative perspective and have substantial experience in supporting people who have experienced trauma, particularly sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Together we can explore what coping strategies you have developed to manage your trauma. I will be at your side as you are processing your pain and tell your story. We will also work on developing trust (towards self and others), safety and a healthy sense of control over your life.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute video or phone consultation. During our initial chat we can get to know each other and you can decide if I am the right therapist for you. You can ask me questions, briefly explain the issue that has led you to seeking therapy as well as any goals that you may have for the future.
If you decide you want to start therapy with me, we will normally meet weekly, at the same time, for 50 minutes. This will be your space to bring whatever you wish. I look forward to walking alongside you on this journey of greater self-awareness.
