About me and my therapy practice
I’m Joe, a Psychosynthesis counsellor who offers sessions online and in person at London Bridge and in Brockley.
Would you like to feel more confidence and resilience? Are you stuck or dissatisfied and want to move forward? Is there a sense of anxiety, overwhelm or perfectionism holding you back?
Admitting we want things to change can be challenging. The fact you're reading this means somewhere in you is a courage and creativity to imagine a different way. We can explore this together. I offer an open, respectful, confidential space where you can talk about whatever is on your mind.
Psychosynthesis takes a holistic approach to change. This incorporates our body, thoughts and emotions, while also acknowledging there is something else to us all. This we might call a soulful or spiritual dimension, or simply our unique sense of purpose or calling.
Addressing and exploring whatever unfolds in the course of our work, we'll work towards a clear and deeper sense of who you are and what you'd like out of life.
Practice description
My work is done though weekly 50-minute sessions, both online and in person. Once we agree a time and day, this space is yours and what we discuss is confidential, in line with the terms of my BACP membership.
At the heart of our lives are relationships and counselling is no different. I will support you to be truly heard. Being met with unconditional acceptance and empathy can itself be transformative. We will also explore patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour, touching on the past while using the present to create new horizons.
My practice is integrative, which means that although I'm trained in Psychosynthesis, a transpersonal therapy, I also draw on psychoanalysis, existentialism, humanistic psychology, gestalt and more. What this allows is varying means to suitably meet the unique, individual needs of each person.
My first session
I understand choosing a counsellor can be daunting. Therefore, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation should you wish.
A first session lays the foundations for our work. This involves contracting, simply agreeing some clear, simple ground rules, for example the regular time and day we both put aside to meet. I'll then enquire what brought you to counselling now. During this first session, I may also ask broader questions about your current life and up-bringing.
After meeting, you can decide whether you'd like to continue. If I don't believe I am the right person to provide for your particular needs, I may also direct you to someone I believe is better suited.
