About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name’s Janina and I am a fully qualified therapist offering in-person counselling in the centre of Leeds, Ilkley and Saltaire, as well as online counselling to people across the UK.
You may be looking for support to process difficult events, time to explore your own sense of identity, or space to allow your feelings to be heard. Taking the decision to start counselling can be a difficult and daunting step and my priority is to ensure we work together at a pace that feels right for you.
I describe my approach as client-led and I adopt an integrative, relational approach to counselling. This means that I work uniquely with every person I support. We are all individuals and I passionately believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which we collaborate to find the best approach for you, ensuring that you gain what you want and need from our time together.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified and insured therapist, with a Post-Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University. As a registered member of the BACP, I abide by their ethical framework.
I am an integrative, relational therapist. This means that I regard the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client as the foundation of our work together. As every person is unique, every therapeutic relationship is too, so the way we work together will be individual to you. From my core as a person-centred therapist, I draw on techniques and theories from various branches of psychotherapy but, ultimately, we will always work in a way that serves you best.
My background is also in education, inclusion and safeguarding, with extensive experience and specialism in neurodivergence, including Autism and ADHD. I am experienced in working as a counsellor with adults and young people.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation, either online or over the phone. This gives you the chance to meet me, briefly talk about what you want to get from counselling and see whether you would like to book a session.
