After my training as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I worked for four years as a specialist therapist for the NHS. In this role, I worked with people with complex and enduring emotional problems such as severe depression, persistent anxiety disorders, repeated self-harm and personality disorders. During this time, I learnt that people can be helped with psychotherapy no matter how great their struggle and apparently hopeless their situation.
In 2015, I set up in private practice and founded "Mindtalk", a counselling and psychotherapy service made up of highly qualified, experienced, independent counsellors and psychotherapists. Over the years, many people in Market Harborough and surrounding areas as well as online have been helped by myself and other Mindtalk therapists.

Practice description
My specialism is the treatment of developmental, relational and shock trauma but I also see clients with general emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem etc.
As an integrative talk therapist, I combine techniques from mainly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy, internal family systems (IFS) and brainspotting to best meet my clients' needs. I also include meditative, body-based techniques in the therapeutic process, when appropriate. I am a qualified Realization Process (embodied mindfulness) teacher and a qualified provider for Trauma and Tension Release Excercises (TRE).
Specifically, I use CBT and compassion-focused therapy to explore with clients their emotional, cognitive and behavioural patterns plus how they help and hinder. I assist clients to get to know themselves and their parts (aspects of themselves) with open curiosity and away from judgements. In the sessions, we practice how to relate to and comfort these parts in a way that promotes healing and a healthy relationship to self and others. Sometimes, trauma is held deep in the body and I use techniques from Brainspotting (or EMDR) and Trauma and Tension Release Exercises (TRE) to help clients release and process it.

During initial sessions, we explore your reasons for contacting me and together create a plan for helping you that feels right for you. In this first session, you might start to feel immediately a little better for having taken action towards change and knowing that you no longer need to deal with this on your own but will receive support with this.
