Availability
I am available to see people in my conveniently located therapy practice in central Lewes on Fridays between 10 - 6. I also have availability via Zoom at several other times and can be flexible. Please contact me to discuss your needs and I will do my best to accommodate them.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamically trained therapist which means I help to think about links between the present and the past - particularly childhood experiences. However, in practice I am most interested in working with you as an individual, listening to your experiences and helping you to find positive ways forward. I draw from a wealth of life experiences both personal and professional , as well as my therapy training and other qualifications. I have decades of experience in the 'helping professions' working with people in different situations including homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse and mental health issues. I am a specialist in bereavement and loss and in employment related issues, as well as working with relationship difficulties.
Practice description
I work both face to face in a therapy room in central Lewes and flexibly online.
There is lots I can say about me and my practice, for example I have worked for decades in different roles within the 'helping professions' and also currently work in an academic setting where I am a Professor. I specialise in loss and bereavement and also in working with aspects of trauma. However, perhaps the best way to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you is through the voices of people I have worked with:
'Denise was brilliant and helped me immensely through a very challenging time. I am so very grateful to her.'
'Denise focussed on what was important to me and always understood things from my point of view without judgement.'
I feel so happy to have found you. I feel like you really understand me.'
My first session
Our first session will be a time for us to get to know each other initially and to talk through what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to get from the process. It will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions, alleviate any anxieties and to feel that I am the right person to start working with.
