About me and my therapy practice

I appreciate that life can be a challenge at  times, making us feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed and finding it difficult to cope. I offer a safe and confidential space to work through how you are feeling and understand why. My name is Suzanne Fowler Evans and I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with years of experience working with couples and new families.

I work with a combination of therapy styles including humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT so can work with you in a tailored and individual way. Sometimes we just need some coping mechanisms to get us through the day, other times we want to be really listened to and understood or you might want to delve into your past experiences to work out why you are who you are. Very often a combination of all three therapy styles have equal value when it comes to feeling better, stronger and more impowered.

I have a particular interest in relationships and attachment, having insecure relationships or unexplored attachment styles can lead us to constantly feeling confused and unsupported and can be at the core of why we often feel inadequate, insecure and lacking self worth or value.

I also specialise in the perinatal period.  If  you are pregnant or recently become a parent, I can help you understand your feelings around pregnancy, labour and birth, post natal health and bonding with your baby. I also work with relationship changes that so often result from welcoming a new baby into the family. I can work with either parent individually or as a couple to help you iron out any challenges that you are trying to work through together.

If any of the above resonates with you and you would be interested in talking further about how we can work together please get in touch. I recognise the importance of the therapeutic relationship so I offer a free initial 15 minute phone or Zoom session so we can get to know each other.

Practice description

My in person practice is predominantly based in Farnham, Surrey and more recently in Haslemere,  I also offer more flexible sessions on Zoom.

I like to work with clients who are open to looking at their mental health as part of their feelings of wellbeing and are interested in making changes that are right for them. There is no one size fits all and my aim is to help empower you to be the person you want to be and make helpful and autonomous life choices going forward.

I bring to our sessions evidence based knowledge, an open mind to work with you as an individual or with your partner and a sense of humour!

I work with individuals and, in certain circumstances I offer therapy in couples.   My approach to working as a couple is different to traditional Relationship Therapy. I offer a safe space for you to listen to each other and understand better how you are both being impacted by a recent or on going situation that you have been unable to resolve.

My first session

Our first full session, as all of our sessions together, will be for 50 minutes and we will cover the basics of the therapy session, GDPR and confidentiality. You will have been sent an assessment form and contract prior to the session which you can either complete online and return to me or you can compete these form during the first session.

I offer a free initial call before we commit to working together, after that I recommend committing to at least 6 sessions to get the most from your therapy. Some people like to work on a regular, weekly basis and others prefer to be more flexible, this might mean introducing online sessions to allow us to continue to work together around your other commitments.
