About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Meg, I am a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Cheshire East.
My work is informed by the person-centred approach, a humanistic therapy based on the understanding that you know the best way to move forward in your life. Every individual has their own unique lived human experience, which is meaningful and powerful to you, I am here to offer a space in which you can start to explore and reconnect with your inner values. I work to facilitate growth and help you to reach your full potential. I believe you are the expert on yourself because no one else knows exactly what it is like to have lived your story.
I do this by providing a space where you can bring your whole genuine self, sessions being led by you, working in a way that is best for you. I will provide you with a non-judgemental, comfortable and warm space where you can openly express and explore what matters to you.
Seeking therapy can be both empowering and challenging, I’ll be with you every step of the way, working collaboratively at your pace to discover your own abilities and autonomy. I believe there is no ‘right way’ to do therapy, nor is there any problem too big or too small to be explored. Some clients may wish to explore intense, painful and raw feelings, others like to be challenged, some may like getting new a perspective on their story, others may bring humour and laughter to the sessions. Some clients turn up with a plan, whereas others see what comes to the surface. However you are is welcome within the sessions with me.
Practice description
I built my therapeutic experience within the NHS, offering psychotherapy to clients who suffered pregnancy loss, miscarriages, abortion/termination, infertility, and issues related to women’s health.
I have delivered psychotherapy and counselling to adults covering a range of mental health difficulties as well as working closely with children, young people and adolescents (16 - 25 year olds) within the NHS and higher educational settings.
Each client brings their own unique human experience, no one story being the same. I will hold a space for you to tell your story and share your experience with me.
Types of Therapy I offer
I am a humanistic psychotherapist and counsellor, delivering therapy in a person-centred way.
I have knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and where/when deemed appropriate I may incorporate this throughout our therapeutic work together. CBT offers a more structured and solution-focused approach to therapy, in which your thoughts, feelings, somatic experience and behaviours are explored
How I deliver therapy?
I offer both long term and short-term therapy, I work with what it best and most preferable for you. I do not prescribe or tell you how many sessions you need. I go at your pace and progress, being led by you.
My first session
I offer a free, no obligation 15-minute ‘initial conversation’ either on the phone or video call to see if you feel comfortable talking to me and if I am the right therapist for you as well as giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship, ensuring you feel at ease, comfortable and trusting to work with me.
