About me and my therapy practice
How I Work:
My work is informed by the person-centred approach - a humanistic therapy that is based on the understanding that you know the best way forward in your life.
I am here to help you to live more authentically, to explore your relationship with different parts of yourself, and to help you move from being stuck to a more flexible way of experiencing.
I do this by providing a space where you can bring your whole self, in a safe and non-judgemental way. I do not give advice or diagnoses. I work in a warm, patient, and collaborative way to help you explore the emotions and experiences that are causing you distress.
Practice description
Therapy requires you to think deeply about yourself, your emotions, and your past, and this can be really challenging - therapy is hard work! I'll be with you every step of the way, at your pace.
Having said that, I also think that there can be so much that is enjoyable about therapy. That might seem a little weird to say, but I believe there can also be room for laughter and humour in sessions as we navigate difficult territory - essentially, however you are, is how you can be in sessions with me. This is your hour to be fully yourself and take space without judgement.
Who I Work With:
I have helped clients struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, and shame. I have experience in working with neurodiverse clients, and those awaiting or seeking ADHD and ASD diagnoses.
I have supported clients who:
are in non-monogamous and non-traditional relationships
wish to explore their gender identity and/or sexuality
are navigating the relationship between their culture and their LGBTQ+ identity.
I aim to get back to enquiries within a working day - please check your spam if you're waiting for a reply from me!
My first session
In our first session, I will ask you a few questions to get an idea of what your previous experiences of therapy are, if there's anything important I need to know. Then the space is yours to tell me what you want to gain from therapy. If you have any goals or issues you might have, bring them here.
We can then form an idea about how we might work together.
If we both feel we're a good fit, we can schedule in further sessions. We will sign a contract which will stipulate how I work, what you can expect from me about confidentiality and the legal and ethical side of things.
Therapy with me can be open ended or set to your own timescale – and we will continue to chat about what you need along the way.
