About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is John, and I’m a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Coach. At the moment I work remotely so all sessions with me would be online. My approach to therapy is warm, active, and engaged—I’m not the kind of therapist who simply sits silently and nods. I’ll share my thoughts and feelings with empathy, compassion, and at times challenging. Together, we’ll build a meaningful, supportive relationship where you feel heard, valued, and able to address the challenges you’re facing or explore personal growth.

Practice description

I specialize in helping people navigate challenges such as addiction, trauma, and depression. I also have experience supporting clients with anxiety, relationship difficulties, and work-related stress, among other concerns. That said, I see you as a whole person rather than just focusing on a specific issue. Often, these challenges are interconnected, and therapy is about exploring and understanding how the different parts of your life influence one another.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy. Feeling comfortable and safe with your therapist is key to being open and getting the most out of the process. To help you determine if I’m the right fit for you, I offer an initial exploratory call. I encourage you to reach out so we can discuss your needs, and I also suggest speaking with a few therapists to ensure you find someone you feel truly comfortable with.

Therapy can be short-term, focusing on immediate concerns, or longer-term, exploring deeper patterns and past experiences. Often, the process evolves as your needs unfold. My integrative approach means I draw from various methods—including person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, and more—adapting to what works best for you.

I usually provide weekly 50-minute session at the same time each week. I do also offer appointments twice week if needed, and if you would like I do offer 90 min sessions. Most of the time, therapy with me is open-ended, meaning we’ll continue our work until you feel ready to conclude.

My first session

I would encourage you to get in touch to have a free and confidential exploratory call - this would last around 20 mins.

If we felt we were a good match our first session would focus on us getting to know one another, it would be a chance for us to agree how we'd work together. It will also be a chance for you to tell me more about what brought you to therapy.
