About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Clare and I offer a compassionate and confidential space for you to explore any difficulty you may be experiencing. We can work together to make sense of your situation and feelings. I will listen, gently challenge your beliefs and encourage fresh perspectives. This approach builds on the momentum that brought you to therapy in the first place. I will work with you to help you feel understood and more at ease in your life.
I believe that past events do impact us in the present but we don't need to go digging around looking for them as such. If something is impacting you it will show up in your day to day life in your relationships, memories, thoughts and general wellbeing. We will focus on these present day occurrences. We will work to bring greater awareness to your emotions and relationship patterns, finding out what is important to you and what you need to move forward.
Practice description
My therapeutic approach is integrative and is largely based on Gestalt Therapy, Attachment theory and Psychodynamic Therapy. My approach is a talking therapy at times incorporating psychological education or creative interventions into our work together. I take a holistic perspective - for example; by bringing greater awareness to how anxiety shows up for you, in your mind-body, and your situation, with all the influences that press upon you, we can find ways to better support you which will allow you greater flexibility and choice in the future.
I have undertaken training to understand how psychotherapy can be helpful for people with ADHD and Autism. I work in a collaborative style, offering regular opportunities to discuss what is working well (or not) in order to enhance the therapy to meet your needs.
It's important you find a therapist you feel comfortable with therefore I suggest we meet for a free 20 minute online consultation. This initial meeting will give you a sense of who I am and how we can work together. From there you can decide whether you would like to book some sessions with me.
I offer short term (6-12 weeks) and long term (open ended) therapy. I usually suggest committing to an initial six sessions, following the initial sessions you may choose to continue in an open ended way.
