About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Leonie, and I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist (MSc). I offer a warm, empathetic space for  clients to process what is happening and has happened in their lives. I encourage clients to speak to me as openly as possible – I am non-judgemental and am always keen to hear exactly what clients hope for in therapy.

I work from a relational 'Gestalt' perspective. What drew me personally to Gestalt, was its holism. Gestalt does not preach an ultimate “way to be healthy”, rather, seeing ‘dysfunctional’ elements of our patterns in life as ‘creative adjustments’ that have developed for a good reason. Through building a sense of curiosity and awareness of our unique ways of being in the world / being in relationship with others, we can broaden our choices around these ways of being. Then we can begin to subtly shift and change the patterns that are no longer working for us.

I initially trained as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, then later completed an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute in London.

Practice description

If you are here, you are likely considering drawing some support from a therapist. I am very happy to offer you a free 20-minute phone-call to see if you would like to book an initial assessment.

I help people with many different struggles. Some people are struggling with depression and /or anxiety, some have had traumatic experiences, a bereavement, or are struggling in their relationships. Others may not identify with having mental health struggles at all, but may feel a bit ‘stuck’, perhaps unhappy at work or unsure about the direction of their life. I suppose the common thread between all people I work with is that each individual is hoping for some kind of change. Gestalt therapy can be a beautiful resource to expand your perspectives and find ways to incite shifts in your processes – these shifts are not always the ones that we have planned for, but they are usually welcome and exciting! In short – if there is something that is not working for you in your life, get in touch and we can go from there.

My first session

I offer a free initial 20 minute chat, for us both to get a sense of whether we would like to work together. If I feel that I can help you, I will offer you an intital assessment session. This is 50 minutes long, and costs the same cost and length as ongoing weekly sessions.

Practice description

I work mainly with adults (18+). Before becoming a therapist, I spent 18 years working as a professional musician and teacher.  I have also worked as an Assistant Psychologist at a Priory Group psychiatric hospital. I commonly work with clients with a wide range of difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, bereavement, transgenerational problems and relationship problems. I have a special interest in neurodiversity.

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist with nearly 5 years’ clinical experience.

I trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy, completing a Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counselling, then later, an MSc in Psychotherapy, at the renowned Metanoia Institute in London, UK. I hold full professional insurance, and abide by the ethical principles of UKCP, BACP and Metanoia Institute.
