About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I know that relationships and life in general can sometimes be challenging! Thinking about seeing a counsellor can feel like a big step to take and finding the right counsellor can also feel daunting. Sometimes just having someone in your corner, providing a bit of extra emotional support can make a real difference.
I recognise that your experience of what you are facing is unique to you, as an integrative counsellor I am able to draw on different types of counselling approaches to offer you the right support for your particular needs. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling I will work alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it may be helpful to have some practical coping strategies to deal with day-to-day life, and during the sessions I aim to work with you to help you achieve the outcomes you wish and to move forward with confidence and belief.
Practice description
I am a relational, integrative counsellor which simply means that I have experience of different forms of counselling and can hopefully draw on these to help my individual clients. Whilst the different types of counselling are important, the thing that really matters is the relationship between us as this is where the real opportunity for change, growth and healing can take place. It is my role to create the right environment for you to feel able to share and work through whatever challenges or difficulties you are facing. My aim is to help you to feel at ease, and be able to talk openly, often the first step in being able to then work towards your desired outcome.
I have experience in working with people who are caring for relatives with life limiting illnesses and disabilities, those who have suffered abuse and trauma, and those who have been bereaved. I have also worked extensively with people who feel anxious, have lost their sense of purpose or are looking to change their life in some way. Sometimes life takes unexpected twists and turns and that can leave us feeling a little ‘out of sorts’, it isn’t always big life changes that lead us to seek help.
I’m a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist and I adhere to their Code of Ethics which support high professional standards. I am also a qualified Coach and in my previous career spent in manufacturing businesses I gained an understanding of the challenges and pressures of work and have extensive experience of working with people navigating both organisational and personal change.
My first session
From personal experience, I know that choosing to open up and be vulnerable takes courage, so it’s my goal to help you feel as comfortable and safe as possible from the moment we first speak.
I offer a free, no obligation, 15-minute phone or online introductory session to make sure we are comfortable to work together. I understand that seeking therapy can be a big step and you may feel anxious, and I hope by having a chat it will reduce any concerns you may have.
