About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Cheryl, I'm a fully qualified and insured integrative counsellor, with a person centred focus. I'm also a member of the BACP counselling association. As well as being a counsellor, I have worked as an NHS nurse for the past 18 years. In addition to this I also run mindfulness, meditation & spiritual groups. These allow people to develop a greater understanding of themselves and help people remain calm in stressful situations. I have also done volunteer work with clients affected by sexual violence & domestic abuse, as well as with Cruse Bereavement.
I believe that counselling can change lives and should be something that is accessible to all. Many people are nervous about starting a counselling journey, that's why I strive to support and reassure clients. All clients will be welcomed warmly and will be able to discuss whatever issues they wish to bring to sessions. These might include:
Stress, anxiety, abuse, depression, self-harm, trauma, self-esteem issues, bereavement, grief, relationship issues, LGBTQ issues, suicide, illness, addiction, sexuality, work concerns, bullying or domestic abuse.
The main values I hold are acceptance, equality & care. These are values that I strive for in all sessions with clients, to allow them to feel comfortable, accepted and be able to speak about issues in a secure non-judgmental environment.
Counselling is all about YOU as the client. That is why flexibility, confidentiality and acceptance are important, to allow you to get the best out of your counselling experience.
Practice description
Counselling sessions will take place in a calm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, in a secure, comfy garden cabin. Parking is available and I am located in a central, easy to access area of Scunthorpe. Or if you prefer, telephone or online sessions can be arranged instead. The counselling room is accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues.
In person sessions are one hour long and online/telephone sessions are 50 minutes. All enquiries and sessions are totally confidential, day time and evening appointments are available. Session times can be flexible, as I recognise that many people need to work around shift patterns, childcare etc. Also, within the current financial climate, many clients are now accessing fortnightly sessions, it’s entirely up to you what best fits your life.
