About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP and UKCP psychotherapist and counsellor with 8,000+ clinical hours of experience counselling individuals.
Before becoming a therapist I had a 30 year career in the City. Becoming less motivated about City work, I changed career in my early 50s and gained a Master's degree in psychotherapy and accreditation as a psychotherapist. I have 13 years' experience working with clients.
I have worked in a wide variety of counselling settings including Guy's Hospital, Pentonville Prison, a bereavement centre and a university. I have worked with a wide range of people of different ages, social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
The issues and concerns I have worked with include depression, anxiety, stress, abortion, bereavement and loss, sexual abuse, relationship issues, eating disorders, lack of meaning in life. I also worked at a centre for survivors of sexual abuse and rape.
My Training:
My training is broadly based which means that I draw upon a range of different therapeutic models but is essentially focussed on the individual and his or her experiences of life. This means that I value your subjective experience and in our sessions the work will be tailored to your individual needs.
I subscribe to the Code of Ethics of the UKCP and BACP and I am fully covered by Professional Liability Insurance.
Member of the SEA (Society for Existential Analysis)

How I work:
The focus of the work will be to explore the concerns and issues you may have about your life in a safe and supportive setting. The work will be collaborative and our aim will be to help you understand more about who you are and who you want to be. I aim to create a compassionate, safe and confidential environment in order to develop a working partnership.
While we each carry our own hopes and expectations of life, sometimes our lives can feel empty and meaningless, we seem to be drifting and disappointed. No one teaches us what we need to know to be at peace. Starting counselling and experiencing a therapeutic relationship could be the start of healing and growth and discovering a different approach to life.
Ring me now for a brief, no-obligation chat: 0780 7051162. If I don't answer please leave a message and I will return your call.
Issues we can explore:
Psychotherapy can help at times when we feel isolated or experiencing a major life change, such as:
relationship issues
general anxiety disorder
depression
addictions
panic disorder
issues of sexuality and gender
family issues
Psychotherapy should feel supportive but also challenging - how else will your life take on a different course? Working together we will identify your negative thinking patterns and work on solutions that can open your life to new possibilities.

At the first session we can explore your situation, how you are feeling and your expectations of therapy - there is no obligation on you to commit to further sessions nor any commitment required to a minimum number of sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor and a registered member of UKCP and BACP. I have extensive experience in supervision and in a variety of counselling settings and worked with a wide range of people of different ages, social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
My training is integrative which means that I draw upon a range of different therapeutic models but is essentially humanistic and existential. I believe that supervision is a collaborative process involving observation, evaluation and self-assessment building on the strengths and talents of the supervisee. Supervision ensures that the supervisee works in a competent manner in which ethical standards and professional practice are used to promote and protect the welfare of the client and the supervisee.
Supervision is an opportunity for the therapist to reflect on their work, to become more aware of the therapeutic processes and relational dynamics, and to gain greater confidence in understanding the therapeutic relationship. I offer sensitive, respectful and ethically aware supervision sessions, and I actively support your professional development. I offer individual clinical supervision to qualified counsellors as well as those in training. Supervision sessions last 50 minutes and the fee is £80 per session.
