Availability

I work in Brighton on a Monday and a Wednesday, and at a clinic in Burgess Hill on Fridays.

About me and my therapy practice

Specialist Child and Adolescent training in Integrative (meaning different modalities combined into a whole) psychotherapy at Terapia in London has equipped me to work with a variety of therapeutic techniques, including and not limited to, creative art, drama, music, and play. I strongly believe in the expressive power of play and of using creative mediums such as clay, paint and sand. The integrative approach allows me to customise my approach to suit the needs of each child, young person, or adult. My focus is always based in seeking to understand the unconscious dynamics which might be adversely affecting the client’s life and in helping my clients understand themselves whilst supporting them in building a stable and healthy sense of themselves in the world. I am keenly aware of the need to develop a child or adult’s capacity for resilience, and for their sense of their own agency and identity to be fully expressed.

I have a long-standing interest in attachment difficulties and adverse childhood experiences and work from a Trauma informed position; believing firmly in establishing a sense of safety for my clients as quickly as possible, prioritising the relational aspect of the work. When working with parents, I see my role as supporting them in thinking about how to understand and support their children through difficult periods in their lives. I find working with parents and facilitating dialogue to help them better understand their children a very rewarding and important part of my work.

Practice description

I have a beautiful and spacious office in Brighton, which is fully equipped with all the items needed for art and creative work. We have toys and Lego along with a sandtray and games, which all help to ensure a gentle introduction to the therapeutic process as well as for use in therapy itself.

My office here has a lift and is wheelchair accessible. There is reasonably priced on-street parking, with the option to reserve a space in our private car park for those who are anxious about getting a parking space or who might want to ensure being close to our office. There is also a bathroom and a waiting area for clients and/their parents.

Practice description

I work from a purpose built garden office in my peaceful and private garden in a small village. This office near Hailsham, East Sussex, BN27, has free on street parking and a bathroom available to clients.

We are also fortunate to have an incredible coffee shop right next door for parents or partners who are waiting.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute phone call to assess whether you feel I might be a good fit for you as a therapist. Should you choose to book in with me, our first full session is a chance for you to get to know me a little and for me to understand the things that have brought you into therapy. My main aim, as I work from a trauma informed perspective, is to create an environment where you feel safe and comfortable in order to speak about difficult experiences and emotions. We will touch gently on a time line of your life experiences and think together about how to best support you going forwards.
