About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Helen. I provide 1-2-1 and couple counselling which can be face-to-face in Plymouth, UK or online.
We all need space to decompress, to just focus on ourselves, to slow down and reflect on what is happening, I can provide you that space in a non-judgemental environment, to explore and process your thoughts and feelings. To help support you become the person you want to be, it won’t be a quick fix, but a journey of understanding, acceptance and growth.
I work with a flexible approach, not one way fits all, hopefully we can find a way together that works for you, to help you achieve your goals
Practice description
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and have additional Level 5 training in relationship counselling.
I work in an integrated way, which means I combine aspects of CBT, Mindfulness, and use creative therapies. As humans we are all unique and work in different ways, so I will try and find a way that works for you.
With couple work I will meet with both of you together to find out what is going on for you, and I will also offer an individual session each. The process requires both of you to be willing to make changes to move forward with your relationship. Acceptance and open communication is key.
Some of the areas I have worked with are; parenting concerns, self-confidence issues, anxiety, relationship concerns, trauma survivors (historical child abuse), attachment issues and perimenopause.
I ask for a £10 deposit when booking a session, and the remainder to be paid within 24 hrs of the session. I will email/text an appointment reminder out the day before.
My first session
In our first session we will discuss what you are hoping to get out of counselling. I have an initial assessment form I will go through with you. We will discuss how the sessions are run, and there will be time for you to ask any questions you might have. We will then book in a date for your sessions to begin.
If you feel that I am not a right match for you that is fine, for the process to work you need to feel safe with who your are talking to. If I feel that I cannot meet your needs, we can discuss this and I can signpost you to other counsellors/agencies.
