About me and my therapy practice
My name is Lee Sims. I use the pronouns he/him.
I am a fully qualified, insured counsellor and psychotherapist who holds registered membership with The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. In addition to that I also hold membership with The Association for Counselling and Therapy Online.
Since qualifying, I have experience in working with adults and adolescents aged 13 and over. This has been in both short-term therapy (up to 6 sessions) and long term therapy. Whether providing therapy long or short term, as a therapist I will frequently check in with clients to make sure they are happy with the direction of their therapeutic journey and that as a therapist I am listening and understanding their experiences.
------------------------
Do you ever find yourself anticipating an event coming up and assuming it is going to turn out horribly? Do you find yourself thinking that you aren't good enough? Do you find yourself engaging in behaviours that make you feel like you have a sense of control when nothing else in your life feels like it is?
As someone who has had their own experience of anxiety, I enjoy working with clients who are also struggling with anxiety as well as other issues. I understand what it feels like to have negative thoughts, whether that be about yourself or the situations you find yourself in. As your therapist, I could help you try to understand where these negative thoughts and assumptions have come from so that we can work through them together and make the changes you might be looking for in your life.
What's Next Counselling offers appointments starting at 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (subject to availability). Therapy is offered by way of video call, telephone call or email.
Practice description
What's Next Counselling can provide support for a number of issues such as anxiety, overthinking, stress, self-harming behaviours, suicidal thoughts as well as self-esteem and sexuality.
Sessions are 60 minutes in length and cost £45. Working exclusively online, this means that I can be flexible around scheduling to meet the demands of your life. Sessions are held by way of telephone calls, video call or email.
My practice prides itself on putting you first as the client. I will work with you to ensure that you are happy with the therapeutic service that is being provided, always offering you the opportunity to offer feedback and ask any questions.
My first session
When you enquire about starting therapy, the first step will be a free 30 minute consultation, conducted by either telephone or video call. This will give us both an opportunity to see if we feel comfortable working together and for you to ask any questions you might have about me or the therapeutic process.
If you decide to commence therapy, I will then email you a client information form to complete and my counselling contract. It is important for you to read the counselling contract before electronically signing it, to ensure you are comfortable with its content and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions about it.
Once the client information form and counselling contract have been returned, we will agree the day and time for your therapy session.
I ask for payment prior to the session. Once payment has been received, I will email the video link to you or if you are accessing therapy by way of telephone call, I will contact you at the agreed time.
