About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and I work with couples and individuals. Psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process where we make sense of things together. Working in safe and non-judgemental environment, we will explore difficulties with kindness and empathy. The process may help you to gain new insights into yourself and your relationships.
I completed my post-graduate psychotherapy training at Tavistock Relationships, an internationally renowned institution for couple psychotherapy, training and research.
In addition to working in private practice, I am a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships where I work with individuals and couples. I hold a registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their professional code and ethical guidelines. I am also a graduate member of Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors. I attend regular supervision and professional development programmes to ensure the quality of my practice.
Practice description
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a collaborative process where we will be making sense of things together. Rather than simply offering advice or reassurance, I will carefully listen to you and help you to think about yourself and your relationships differently.
I offer a non-judgmental and confidential environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and insightful way.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual psychodynamic therapy can be a very helpful process for anyone wishing to develop greater self-awareness and a better understanding of their relationships, both past and present.
Working through difficult feelings requires commitment, and psychotherapy can therefore feel like a challenging process. But it can also be rewarding and cathartic. As you explore your own experiences, you can reach deeper levels of understanding. You may also discover new choices and options for your future.
COUPLE THERAPY
Coming to therapy as a couple will give you the opportunity to explore difficult dynamics in a safe and confidential setting. There may be many difficult emotions between you, such as hurt or anger, and we will explore this together in a thoughtful way.
Couple therapy may help you both to identify repeating patterns that feel hurtful or even destructive; and it may help you to establish new ways of relating that feel more fulfilling and productive. Insights gained from the therapy might lead to a new sense of emotional intimacy where difficulties can then be made sense of and worked through together, rather than separately.
During our sessions, we will think about your difficulties as well as the underlying reasons behind them. You may gain insight into each other’s experiences, feelings and behaviours, and begin to see each other as well as your relationship with a new sense of empathy and curiosity.
My first session
After a brief initial phone conversation, I ask every new client to attend an initial face-to-face consultation. This will allow us to think about the difficulties you are currently experiencing and what type of help you are looking for. It is also a chance for us to get to know each other, and to decide whether working together on an ongoing basis feels like the right way forward. The fee for the consultation is £120 for couples and £80 for individuals.
